Swoop Aero

Job Description
About Swoop Aero:
Swoop Aero was founded to transform how the world moves essential supplies by making access to the skies seamless. We were the first company globally to deliver a vaccine using a drone under a commercial contract. Since then, we've expanded globally, transforming the health supply chain with drone logistics operations in four countries.
The work we’re doing is shifting the future of healthcare. We are having an immediate impact on the lives of people who live within the communities our operations are conducted in. Lots of companies say they have an impact but we really have one. We’ve got big plans to shift the paradigm in both developing and developed markets alike, both by deploying our fully managed logistics service into the health supply chain, and providing selected partners with our technology platform to further expand their impact.
To deliver on our vision, we’ve brought together a team of eternally optimistic and resourceful ‘doers’ to tackle these seemingly insurmountable problems and make all this become a reality. Last year we tripled our team size, and this year despite all the challenges we are doing it again.
About you:
So, what next? With our experienced team and strong capital backing, we’re working to build our global team and expand operations across multiple markets. Today we are looking for a Certification Engineer who is eager to work on the frontier of aviation technology and become one of the few people globally to pursue the certification of an autonomous aircraft.
You will have a strong understanding of basic aerodynamic, mechanical, and electrical engineering concepts. You can interpret complex Aviation standards, and use straightforward communication techniques and easy to understand language to provide advice on the technical roadmap and system design approaches to development teams. You'll be able to take complex knowledge and distil it into understandable information during creation of technical documentation, including reporting on test outcomes, and outlining system operational under normal and abnormal conditions
Due to the unique nature of our product this is not a traditional engineering position. Join us on this ambitious journey and step outside your comfort zone!
About the role:
You will join our Advocacy and Certification team who is working on the future of autonomous aircraft, and be a part of the team that is focused on ensuring Swoop Aero becomes the first Australian organisation to successfully achieve FAA certification.
This is a unique opportunity to work closely with a group of multidisciplinary, technical specialists on the early conceptual design of our next generation aircraft. You will provide engineering advice and input to the development of all projects related to aircraft certification including the development of design standards, testing methodologies and regulatory amendments. Working closely with the Head of Regulatory Strategy you will have the opportunity to represent Swoop Aero on the global stage, contributing to conversations with key aviation stakeholders including the FAA, CASA and other relevant regulatory bodies.
Success in this role will not only change the landscape of aviation, but strengthen the global health supply chain and enable better access to healthcare for millions of people around the world.
As this is a technical role we have some necessary experience:
A Bachelor Degree in a relevant engineering field, or combination of relevant coursework and experience.
Hands-on experience in Safety and Systems Engineering
Project or program management qualifications
Experience using task/requirements and document management systems (i.e. JIRA, Confluence etc.)
Interested?
If you believe you match the criteria, are passionate about changing people’s lives and have what it takes to be at the forefront of transforming the global healthcare supply chain we would love to hear from you!
