Job Description

The Holocaust Educational Trust team is made up of hard working people who are passionate about our mission to educate every person from every background in the UK about the Holocaust and its contemporary relevance. We work across the UK, providing a wide range of educational programmes and initiatives to achieve this mission.

Our Ambassador Programme is a youth engagement programme, which aims to educate and engage young people aged 16-25 years old. We have over 45,000 Ambassadors who have all completed our Lessons from Auschwitz Project and now engage with us, via our projects and events, to continue learning and to pass on what they have learned within their communities to ensure the Holocaust is remembered.

As an Ambassador Project Coordinator you will play a key role in engaging our dynamic and growing community of young people, working directly on youth engagement, assisting in the development of our programme and assisting the day-to-day running of our events.

An Ambassador Programme Coordinator should be:

  • Knowledgeable of and committed to safeguarding, wellbeing and the welfare of the young people we work with.

In your first 6 months, you’ll:

  • Monitor and evaluate all projects to ensure continual and improved engagement from Ambassadors.

  • Assist with developing projects and events, based on continual engagement and further impact.

  • Streamline all processes and administration, ensure all administration around events is efficient.

  • Liaise with and Engage the Ambassador Community

  • Engage with Ambassadors, provide guidance to them as they organise their own projects and events.

  • Visit Ambassador projects and engage with the wider Ambassador community.

  • Develop new methods of engagement and guidance for Ambassadors, based on feedback, evaluation and monitoring.

  • Coordinate Ambassador attendance and participation at events.

  • Maintain our database, tracking activity throughout the year in order to evaluate the reach of the Programme.

  • Maintain the Ambassador section of our website, ensuring that they have access to relevant updates, guidance and information.

  • Reply to phone and email enquiries from Ambassadors, logging all relevant communications/activity, and coordinating relevant follow up.

  • Identify and record case studies which highlight the best examples of Ambassador engagement.

  • Work with the Lessons from Auschwitz Project team to speak with Ambassadors following their successful completion of Project, including having an insight into the processing, moderation and content of Next Steps projects and identifying Ambassadors to speak at Follow Up Seminars and briefing those Ambassadors accordingly.

  • Assist the Lessons from Auschwitz Project team in a logistical role on our one-day visits to Auschwitz-Birkenau (up to three visits per year).

  • Attend our events throughout the year.

After 6 months in post, we'd expect you to:

  • Develop new ideas for the project and events to engage the Ambassador community in our work.

  • Assist in creating a monitoring and evaluation framework for the whole programme.

  • Evaluate the impact of present projects and ways to improve, progress and further develop these projects.

  • Liaise with Ambassadors regularly and establish a framework of communication with the wider community.

  • Visit Ambassador projects and events once per term.
