Job Description

Historic England have a fantastic opportunity for you to join us as our Marine Historic Environment Record (HER) Officer.
This is a Full Time, Permanent post.
The location of this role is National where we offer hybrid working, you will be based in one of our following offices and from home - Newcastle, York, Manchester, Birmingham, Swindon, Bristol, Portsmouth and Cambridge.
You will be required to come to Swindon on a regular basis for meetings.
Salary
£24730 -National (Newcastle, York, Manchester, Birmingham, Swindon, Bristol, Portsmouth):
£25,861 - Cambridge

What you will be doing
Training and progression opportunities will be offered as part of this role
As our Marine Historic Environment Record (HER) Officer, you will help maintain the National Marine Heritage Record (NMHR) and will provide information to support research and the preparation of policies and proposals for the management of sustainable change in the marine historic environment. You will work to ensure that Historic England (HE), its partners and members of the public have access to accurate and reliable information about the marine historic environment.
You will also assist the Marine HER Manager in the analysis and interpretation of data relating to the marine historic environment, as well as other relevant datasets, and will help provide a specialist customer service for internal and external users of the NMHR.

A relevant higher education qualification
Experience of using databases and spreadsheets to capture and organise data
A demonstrable interest in marine archaeology
Excellent organisational and administrative skills, including attention to detail
Good customer care skills
An aptitude for collaborative working with both internal and external partners
