About this role:

Reporting to the Senior Data Manager, this role will work with an existing part-time energy researcher to support SIB’s energy and carbon research and analysis as well as providing an information source for the wider social investment sector.  You will support the development of strategies aimed at reducing carbon footprints and promoting energy efficiency across SIB’s funds whilst also leading external engagement with key stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

1.       To develop metrics and track progress within SIB funds to work towards our net zero strategy and improve progress across the wider sector.

2.       Offer guidance in the creation of new energy funds and help review and assess applications and the application process.

3.       To draw on comparative data sources and develop creative ways of adding to SIB’s own data to generate greater insights on the value of energy and carbon analysis in the social investment sector.

4.       To support external engagement with SIBs funders and key stakeholders on energy and carbon research.

5.       To ensure that SIBs carbon and energy research and funding considers and supports a just transition towards a more sustainable economy in a way that's fair and inclusive.

6.       Provide expertise to the wider SIB team on the energy sector including low carbon heating, energy efficiency and renewable technologies.

7.       Undertake site visits to evaluate decarbonisation and efficiency measures.

8.       To ensure SIB is up to date on UK Government energy policies and de-carbonisation and energy efficiency progress at a more local level.

9.       To ensure SIB and customers are up to date with what funds are available for low carbon heating, energy efficiency and renewable technologies.

10.    To work within the organisation's values, principles and processes to achieve operational excellence.

 11.    To adopt our continuous improvement and learning ethos.

 12.    To support and embed equality, diversity and inclusion into day-to-day behaviours and activities within your role as well as contributing more widely across SIB’s commitment to E, D & I.

 13.    To support and contribute to the implementation and delivery of SIB’s strategy.

 14.    In agreement with manager to undertake other tasks and work on cross team projects that support the objectives of SIB as required.

  • Good knowledge of low carbon heating, energy efficiency and renewable technologies

  • Excellent computer literacy

  • Excellent knowledge of Excel

  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent writing skills

  • An understanding of how to share research and analysis with audiences of mixed experience

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Good working knowledge of research methods either qualitative, quantitative or mixed methods

  • Strong planning skills and an ability to multi-task, work well under pressure and meet deadlines

Desirable competencies

  • Understanding of the UK charity and social enterprise sectors

  • Experience using data analysis tools, such as Python, Stata, or R would be beneficial.
