About the Centre for Public Impact (CPI):

At the Centre for Public Impact, we believe in the transformative potential of government to improve lives and create better outcomes for all. Yet, we recognize that many of today’s government systems, structures, and processes are not yet designed to address the complex challenges of our time. That’s why we are committed to reimagining government- working towards systems that truly serve everyone, equitably, and effectively.

As a not-for-profit organization founded by the Boston Consulting Group, we act as a learning partner for governments, public servants, and a diverse network of change makers. As a small organization, we operate globally, with dedicated and innovative teams located in North America, Australia/Aotearoa New Zealand, Asia, and Europe.

Position Overview:

We are hiring Senior Associates in North America (NA) to work as City Leads across the region. We are looking for Senior Associates who are entrepreneurial self-starters with a passion for public sector impact and a background in human-centered design and innovation. You will be staffed within our Bloomberg Philanthropies’ (BP) partnership portfolio and will serve as the primary point of contact for cities, acting as “thinker and doer” on our newest city innovation programs. We are seeking individuals who are comfortable working autonomously and can navigate ambiguity with confidence.

The Bloomberg Portfolio

CPI has partnered with Bloomberg Philanthropies and related entities (e.g. Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation, Harvard Center for Cities) to design and deliver programming that helps to equip public servants with innovation tools and mindsets to deliver better outcomes for residents. Since 2018, this portfolio has trained more than 1,000 public servants in 100+ cities across the world, helping public servants generate more than 25,000 ideas with residents to address pressing challenges in their local communities. Cities have gone on to design more than 300 prototypes and replicate the methodologies of the programming on more than 500 other priority initiatives. We are proud of this long-standing partnership and the ways in which we have been able to serve as a learning partner to governments around the world to explore new ways of working and collaborating. We are excited to grow our delivery team with this role and continue to expand our impact.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Delivery & Facilitation

  • Lead delivery of our flagship innovation capacity-building program (August 2026–May 2027), managing relationships with up to three city teams simultaneously.

  • Facilitate workshops and engagements virtually and in person with city leaders, including senior staff and mayors.

  • Oversee day-to-day program workstreams to ensure high-quality, on-time delivery.

Stakeholder & Partner Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with city partners, coaches, philanthropic partners, and other stakeholders.

  • Communicate and present effectively to senior and executive-level audiences.

  • Ensure alignment, engagement, and smooth program implementation across partner organizations.

Program Design & Learning

  • Contribute to the design and execution of key program milestones and participant experiences.

  • Develop curriculum and learning materials, including workshops, presentations, and other content.

  • Partner on monitoring, evaluation, and impact measurement to track outcomes and inform continuous improvement.

Team Collaboration & Growth

  • Operate independently while collaborating closely across the portfolio.

  • Engage regularly in feedback and learning practices to support individual and team development.

This is a phenomenal opportunity if you…

  • You love an evolving and iterative workplace. Our portfolio is committed to robust analysis, communication, delivery, and relationship-building. This role is best suited for someone who already independently holds themselves to a high caliber of work.

  • You’ll thrive if you like to dive right in; solve problems; build relationships; and approach your job with partnership and collaboration. If you prefer a high level of certainty within a clearly-defined and predictable working structure, this role will not meet that need.

  • You have a strong client-service orientation. We work in an ecosystem of funders, implementation partners, and city teams with high standards for delivery. Successful candidates will know how to adapt to different client and cultural contexts while bringing their personal touch and expertise.

  • You are comfortable working across cultures. You bring curiosity, humility, and adaptability to diverse cultural contexts, and are able to build trust and collaborate effectively with partners from different backgrounds and geographies.

Qualifications:

  • Roughly 5-8  years of relevant professional experience

  • Professional working fluency in English, with additional consideration given to candidates who speak French, Spanish, German, or Portuguese.

  • Willingness to travel up to 40-50% of the time during busy periods

  • Fluency in human-centered design and innovation and experience facilitating professional workshops.

  • Strong client/partner management orientation, with an aptitude for managing relationships and adapting to social, cultural, and professional contexts

  • Academic or professional experience in public policy, government, innovation, community engagement, and/or human-centered design

  • Qualitative and quantitative data analysis skills, especially in translating observations into resonant stories and actionable insights

  • Demonstrable knowledge of and passion for public impact, particularly at the local government level

  • Exceptional project management skills and excitement to work in a fast-paced project environment

  • Demonstrated experience interacting effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and commitment to learning about and advancing DEIB within our team and its broader partner and city ecosystems
