Short Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the DLUHC Digital Directorate and work with a series of teams delivering the Planning for the Future reform programme.
The digital reform programme is being delivered by a combination of several digital multidisciplinary teams, including the Local Digital Collaboration Unit, and the Digital Land team, in conjunction with the Planning Directorate. The Local Digital Collaboration Unit supports a national ‘Local Digital' movement that brings together everyone required to make excellent local public services, working with local government stakeholders to adopt the Local Digital Declaration principles in their service delivery.
The Local Digital team were voted Apolitical’s ‘Global Public Service Team of the Year 2019’ in the ‘New Ways of Working’ category for our innovative approach to incentivising collaboration.
Job Description
The project support and admin officer will work closely with the digital planning software team to support funded projects and undertake administrative and facilitation tasks.
We’re looking for a project officer who is comfortable with working with different teams and external organisations such as local authorities to support project delivery. You will have experience of working in a digital team, taking ownership of various administrative tasks and showing initiative to improve how our projects are supported.
Responsibilities
. Manage relevant mailboxes, responding to queries or passing them on to the correct people in the team
. Own finance processes for releasing funding to our funded projects, skills, training and administration of programme budget
. Support our funded projects with project management work, leading the development of some component assets, like business case materials and guidance for which the standard or tool is being developed.
. Keep our stakeholders up to date by contributing to blog or website content and working with communications colleagues to ensure consistent messaging
. Help us track our progress, reporting periodically on the impact and lessons learnt from the projects you’re working on
. Business improvement, ensuring our processes are continuously iterated and improved
. Contribute to organising and supporting the delivery of funding rounds and assessments of project outputs
. Communication support: help communicate the benefit of the projects we undertake.
Person Specification
It is essential that you have:
. Strong communications skills (both written and oral) to build and maintain good relationships both internally and externally using different channels
. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
. The ability to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility and be able to prioritise competing demands
Ideally, you’d have:
. Experience working in projects using agile, user-led, or digital-design methods
. Knowledge or experience of local and central government
. Experience with financial processes and administration.

RESERVE LIST:

CTC (Counter-terrorism Clearance):
Important note
Successful candidates for roles based in our 2 Marsham Street building must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is counter-terrorist check and the process can take up to 8 weeks to complete.
Please note that successful candidates will need to pass the CTC security checks – this requires you to have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years. Please refer to the DLUHC Notes on Security Clearance section of our Candidate Pack for further information on Counter Terrorism Clearance (CTC).

HEO salary
The salary for this role is £33,210 (London) or £30,188 (National).
For existing civil servants, the usual policy on level transfer and promotion will apply and is non-negotiable.
