Job Description

The Food Services and Finance Assistant will work primarily in the Rations Department at NOLS Pacific Northwest to provide excellent service to students and staff through assisting with the planning, ordering, and preparation of food for backcountry expeditions. In addition, they will assist with financial reporting and accounting.

Key Logistical Information:

  • Contract type: Seasonal from June to August 20th, full-time during that period.

  • Candidate needs to be 21 years of age - NOLS Insurance requires drivers to be at least 21 years old.

  • The position is located at NOLS Pacific Northwest in Conway, WA. A moderate campus fee applies for staff living on site. Private housing is available on-site. Meals are provided when students are on campus. Kitchen and living areas are shared with other NOLS PNW staff.

What does a Food Services and Finance Assistant do?

  • Assist with planning, ordering, and preparation of food for backcountry expeditions

  • Assist with food preparation for meals served on campus

  • Keep all sections of the Rations Room clean and organized, and meet the standards of the Skagit County Health Department

  • Lead students and staff in backcountry food planning and preparation

  • Assist with the accounting of cash advances, gas card requisitions, and check receipts

  • Assist with Outfitting Department during course de-issue days to clean up gear

  • Perform transportation tasks to support operational logistics and other duties as assigned by Operations Manager

  • Provide timely and growth-oriented feedback to supervisor and co-workers.

  • Actively contribute to a positive and healthy community living environment while striving to maintain balance between work and life

  • Possess a valid driver's license, have a clean driving record and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Report check, and feel comfortable driving passengers in a 15 passenger van
