(Senior) Economist/Research and Policy Analyst
Resolution Foundation
- Closing: 8:59am, 16th Sep 2021 BST
Job Description
The Resolution Foundation is looking for a thoughtful and committed individual to help drive the production of high quality, innovative economic analysis and support the development of associated policy recommendations. Working at the heart of the Foundation’s research and policy team and in collaboration with external partners, the post holder will deliver a programme of research and policy work focused on securing high-quality work for young adults, supported by the Health Foundation.
The aim of the project is to substantially advance the evidence base on the incidence of poor qualitywork when young, and to develop policy proposals that influence job quality and labour market opportunities for young adults in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. The project will also consider how precarious and low-quality work affects young people’s longer-term labour market outcomes and health. Previous work at Resolution Foundation has focused on the relationship between insecure work and poor mental health, but the post holder will have the capacity to focus on other outcomes related to low-quality work, or to consider how well the labour market for young people is recovering from the Covid-19 crisis, or whether young people’s labour market prospects have been permanently affected by the pandemic.
This post is part of the Health Foundation’s Young People’s Future Health Inquiry workstream, and aligns with similar posts in other organisations. The Health Foundation is supporting the cohort of post-holders and is also facilitating collaborative working to strengthen the policy agenda further.
The role involves quantitative and qualitative labour market research, policy design and evaluation. We are interested in hearing from candidates with strong quantitative research skills and analytical competence, and knowledge and understanding of policy related to the labour market. The post holder will need to be capable of working collaboratively within an organisation committed to the highest analytical standards. The role requires project management skills and the ability to collaborate with a wide range of organisations and individuals. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
The Resolution Foundation welcomes applications from all under-represented communities and groups. As part of our commitment to increasing diversity within both our own workforce and the economic policy making sector in general, we offer pre-application discussions to Black, Asian and other Minority Ethnic candidates and all candidates with disabilities who would like to speak to someone about the role in advance. Please contact sharmina.khanam@resolutionfoundation.org for more details.
We also offer the option for Black, Asian and other Minority Ethnic candidates and all candidates with disabilities to opt in to a guaranteed interview scheme if they meet the essential requirements.
