Summary
Vale Domestic Abuse Service provides specialist support to women and children who have been subjected to violence against women, domestic abuse and/or sexual violence (VAWDASV). You can find out more about us here.
The role is based in our refuge services and will focus on housing management, general housekeeping duties, liaising with contractors and providing support to clients that compliments the support provided by the Specialist Domestic Abuse Practitioners. there are opportunities for training to progress to Specialist Domestic Abuse Practitioner Roles.

What this job does
General housekeeping and cleaning across all our accommodation, including staff areas, offices and bathrooms
Prepare rooms in readiness for accessing across all accommodation sites.
To ensure that our accommodation is appropriately stocked with the resources necessary to keep accommodation clean and maintained
To launder bed linen, towels and duvets as flats become vacant
To carry out regular housing management/health and safety checks and deal with any maintenance issues arising
To liaise with contractors and suppliers as necessary
Complete fire alarm test weekly, ensure all fire extinguishers are checked and correctly located
Monitor, record and follow up on any health & safety concerns which arise
Assist in any emergency evacuation procedures
Undertake administrative duties associated with the role
To assist in the day to day operations of our accommodation, complimenting support provided by the Specialist Domestic Abuse Practitioners. Including but not limited to supporting residents to move in and move out of accommodation, organising activities and introducing them to the local area
To maintain the confidentiality of the women and children using the service and, in all matters, relating to the charity
To be aware of the issues surrounding domestic abuse
Be an ambassador for Vale DAS to ensure an effective, coordinated community response to survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence and their children
Demonstrate and positively promote Vale DAS values, culture and qualities
Participate in team meetings, supervision, training either internal or external as requested by the line manager.
Work within the Policies and Procedures of Vale DAS
Undertake any other reasonable duties that may be required.
The Ideal Candidate has
Knowledge of awareness of domestic abuse and its impact
Experience of housekeeping or cleaning within a residential or business premises
Great communication and interpersonal skills
Able to work in a team environment
Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately to emergency situations
Ability to maintain clear professional boundaries
Ability to demonstrate behaviours that accord with our values: Curiosity, Kindness, Inclusive, Collaborative, Integrity, Self Awareness and Dedication
A current valid driving licence, access to a car and insurance covering business use.
