About The Atmospheric Fund (TAF) and the Climate Policy Junior Analyst
Have you heard about TAF? We’re a regional climate agency that invests in low-carbon solutions for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area and helps scale them up for broad implementation. We are experienced leaders and collaborate with stakeholders in the private, public and non-profit sectors who have ideas and opportunities for reducing carbon emissions. We advance the most promising concepts by investing, providing grants, influencing policies and running programs.
The Climate Policy team provides information and assistance to municipal, provincial, and federal governments to enact and improve policies that have significant emissions reduction potential. At the same time, our policy development efforts also strive to create other benefits such as improved public health, lower building operating costs, and local job creation.
Working together with the team, the Junior Analyst will undertake research and contribute to stakeholder engagement activities to advance key policy initiatives for 2025.
Project Opportunities:
Policy & Advocacy
Contribute to policy development by analyzing and documenting regulatory barriers and recommending improvements that facilitate the adoption of low-carbon solutions like heat pumps, solar energy, and EV charging across GTHA municipalities.
Assist the policy team in its outreach efforts with local councillors across the GTHA and building TAF’s stakeholder lists and network on key advocacy priorities including Green Development Standards, Building Emissions Performance Standards, and EV charging expansion efforts.
Research
Support the policy-related research and contribute to submissions to government ministries, departments, and municipalities as new opportunities emerge.
Assist in drafting TAF’s pre-budget submissions across different levels of government.
Organizationally
Participate and contribute in staff meetings, lunch n’ learns, planning sessions, working groups and similar settings.
Key details:
Compensation: $28/hour plus financial support for wifi associated with work. A laptop will be provided.
Employment term: full time (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm) for approximately four months between May 1 – August 29. Flexible schedule and hours to be determined in consultation with your manager.
Location: Hybrid, with two days a week in TAF’s Toronto office (at Union Station). We will consider fully remote work for the right candidate!

The kind of skills and experience we're looking for:
Currently completing (or a recent graduate) from a public policy, political science, or related program and have a demonstrated interest in sustainability and urban climate solutions.
Strong research and analysis skills. Research experience in environmental and/or energy policy, or a related issue is an asset.
Experience with public or stakeholder engagement
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with other team members, actively participating in staff meetings and groups.
Good writing skills with an ability to summarize key findings concisely.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced work environment.
