  • Convene our vast network to create opportunities for collaborative action

  • Harness our global scale to influence policymakers and regulators to effect system change

Job Description

The Responsible Investment Manager for Germany & Austria RI Ecosystems will be responsible for enhancing responsible investment awareness and practice in Germany & Austria and for providing investors with the tools to implement it in their investment processes. This incorporates convening PRI signatories and stakeholders, supporting signatory progression through outreach and advice, and supporting meaningful policy outreach within those markets.

The role also involves recruitment of new strategic signatories and the coverage of our existing signatory base in the region as well as the local implementation of global PRI initiatives to drive progressive signatory action.

The role requires an understanding of the investment industry, the sustainable development agenda as well as the relevant local and regional policy and regulatory environments.

The successful candidate will join an inclusive team which forms part of the wider Responsible Investment Ecosystem (RIE) team.

The role offers a diverse, challenging and inspiring environment and corresponding responsibilities. Successful candidates can participate in and contribute to a wide range of exciting and relevant activities and initiatives, both internally and externally, at a local level and related to international developments.

Domestic and occasional international travel will be required primarily for signatory or stakeholder meetings, industry events and internal meetings. The role reports to the Head of Germany & Austria RI Ecosystems as part of the wider RIE Continental Europe team.

  • Team Collaboration: Aid in the overall team effectiveness by contributing to team meetings and by collaborating with colleagues within the Continental Europe team and across other regional RI Ecosystem teams worldwide.

  • Working across PRI: Collaborate and develop strong working relationships with PRI’s other teams on local market-related issues, particularly Global Policy, Sustainable Systems, and Investor Initiatives, ensuring the latest PRI tools and guidance are taken to the local signatory base as appropriate.

  • Projects/Programmes: Support and contribute to strategic and/or ad hoc projects to develop and enhance key local market issues and players.

  • Events: Represent PRI at relevant events to help raise the organisation’s profile in the region, network across the local RI ecosystem and help showcase relevant recent research, initiatives, and guidance.

  • Local Market Business plans: Support the Head of Germany & Austria RI Ecosystems in delivering against the team’s business plan and budget in addition to contributing to building out a clear picture on their local market via provision of data, knowledge of local trends etc.

Person Specification

  • Experience or knowledge in the investment industry, with a good understanding of the structure and operation of the investment chain and issues relating to developments in sustainable finance and responsible investment including the role that policy plays in this context (with a particular focus on Germany and Austria).

  • Experience or knowledge with ESG issues and their overall impact on the long-term investment outcomes and society.

  • Proven business development skills including the ability to investigate growth opportunities.

  • Excellent networking, influencing and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong and productive relationships and demonstrate credibility at a senior level in different circumstances (remote/in-person or internal/external).
