  • Hours: 35 hours per week. Other flexible arrangements will be considered

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Legal Team contributes to UNICEFUK’s positive impact for children by working with the wider organisation to maximise the value of our supporters’ donations and to safeguard our funds and assets.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Paralegal provides an essential foundation of support to the Chief Financial Officer and Legal Director, and ensures the smooth administration of the Finance, Legal and Information function. The Paralegal additionally supports the rest of wider organisation with assistance in the contracting and day to day management of current partners, prospects, and wider fundraising activities.

What we will expect you to achieve

•Key point of contact with pro-bono partners in coordinating support received from outside the organisation, including reviewing and distilling legal advice and preparing briefs for external lawyers.

•Organising meetings for key stakeholders across the directorate –lead on diary management for the Legal Director and Chief Financial Officer

•Carry out legal administration, including helping with writing letters, maintaining files, reporting and forecasting and prioritising casework across the Legal department

•Processing and raising expenditure POs on behalf of Information, Data, Legacies and Legal

•Drafting meeting agendas, and attending internal and external meetings, in-person as required, with experts or clients to take and circulate detailed minutes/ action points

•Overseeing the signing of contracts for the Finance, Legal and Information Function using DocuSign

•Under supervision of Legal Director, reviewing and amending legal document sand providing advice.

•Creating and updating training materials and template agreements for use across the organisation

•Conducting legal, governance and fundraising compliance research and setting out results

Relevant experience

•Experienced in provision of paralegal support, conducting legal research and providing law updates

•Also able to provide a range of administrative and project management support, in a busy office environment or a virtual / remote setting.

•Able to take responsibility and deal with routine matters on behalf of a busy, high-pressure team, using initiative as required and being accountable for actions.

Specific knowledge and skills

•Batchelor’s Degree in Law or equivalent is essential

•Excellent written and verbal communication skills

3•Good attention to detail to be able to carefully analyse files and data •Able to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines

•Office administrative skills for tasks such as filing, typing and letter writing

•Good teamwork skills particularly when working with other departments to complete your tasks

•Business acumen and an understanding of the organisational needs
