Job Description

Project Description:

  • We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven person to contribute to our team, building and testing a CubeSat payload.

  • The successful applicant will work with a small team of researchers, engineers and students across multiple disciplines.

  • The project will involve developing, testing and documenting software and off-the-shelf hardware for the spacecraft payload.

Applicant Specification:

  • The successful applicant will have knowledge of, or a willingness to learn to code in both C and python.

  • The successful applicant will work well both within teams and display a willingness to learn to lead an aspect of the payload.

  • A familiarity with electronic devices such as an Arduino is an advantage.

  • The successful applicant will display organisational skills and a willingness to learn documentation skills for both code and project management.

  • Strong science communication skills are an advantage.

Minimum requirements:

  • Passion, enthusiasm and organisational skills.

  • Basic knowledge of code in python or C and basic knowledge of computer and microcontroller platforms such as Raspberry PI and Arduino, or an enthusiasm to learn these skills.

Process details:

  • 8 weeks minimum fixed term contract to be agreed with successful candidate

  • In-person Induction Event to be held on 24th June at the Satellite Applications Catapult, Electron Building, Fermi Ave, Harwell OX11 0QR, and an in-person/hybrid Showcase Event to be held during the autumn of 2024.

  • 5 days holiday to be taken during the placement
