We are now searching for a Portfolio Manager to support our community of Impact entrepreneurs across Europe, Middle East, and Africa. The Manager will serve as the point of contact for the entrepreneurs in these regions. The Manager will report directly to our Director of Global Portfolio and work closely with our Managing Director of Global Portfolio as well as the broader Investments Team. This is an exciting, multifaceted role balancing a number of dynamics and responsibilities. This position is based in EMEA, ideally London, and will require some domestic and international travel, depending on when we’re able to safely return to in-person programming.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all of our EMEA-based entrepreneurs. Currently, there are over 92 entrepreneurs based in these regions with an additional 20 being added each year.

  • Share “check-in calls” at least twice a year with the entrepreneurs under your management to understand how the Unreasonable community can best be of continued support to them, and lead the process of supporting them. .

  • Monitor all requests for support from EMEA entrepreneurs and direct those requests to the relevant member of the Unreasonable team and/or Unreasonable Community.

  • Collect the ongoing fundraising needs of the entrepreneurs under your management.

  • Develop tailored investor lists of funding connections Unreasonable can make for each entrepreneur under your management who is raising investment. 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with a large network of growth-stage investors across EMEA.

  • Support the Unreasonable Community Team (the division of Unreasonable that facilitates our various programmes) as they develop world-class events and workshops that drive value to our entrepreneurs.

  • Attend the investor gathering and the closing days of the Unreasonable Impact UK & Europe Program each year and any other relevant programs that are specific to the regions under your management.

  • Work with the Unreasonable Media Team to collect and highlight press hits for the entrepreneurs/ventures under your management.

  • You are someone who is truly passionate about supporting entrepreneurs who are applying wildly scalable business solutions to solving the world’s greatest challenges.

  • You see entrepreneurship as a driver of economic growth and an agent of social and environmental change.

  • You have a strong understanding of the various ways businesses raise investment and access capital.

  • You consider yourself a strong relationship builder and easily maintain contact with an extensive network, 

  • Ideally have your own network of relevant funders and ecosystem players in the impact investing space in EMEA

  • You work best on a fast-moving team that is collaborative, and when needed, you are able to take full ownership of a project from start to finish without direct management.

  • You have a very high degree of digital proficiency and are passionate about utilizing technology to streamline communication. 

  • You think in terms of systems and how your work fits and interacts with the larger system. You are passionate about working with a team to develop replicable processes. 

  • You are a skilled researcher and are highly detail oriented when it comes to managing extensive data and information sets. 

  • You think and operate strategically. You recognize what’s most important to tackle, in what order, and are prepared to make informed, independent decisions.

  • You believe deeply in the importance of transparent and honest communication in what you write and how you interact with the people around you.

APPLICATION TIMELINE 

  • December 10th: Application goes live.

  • January 5th: Your application is due. 

  • January 11th-13th: If you are invited to the next round of the process, we will schedule a 20 minute phone call with you. 

  • January 13th- 18th: We will give select applicants a small “trial project” representative of the type of work associated with this position. Though we will give you 6 days to finish your "trial project," it should only take a few hours to complete. 

  • January 24th-28th : Assuming both of you and Unreasonable want to continue exploring the potential of working together, we'll invite you to meet with our team for a virtual interview. Simultaneously we’ll be conducting background checks and reference checks on the two to three most compelling applicants for this position.

  • February 1st: Assuming you made it through the reference checks, you will be notified whether or not the position is yours.

  • February 15th​: Ideally, the candidate accepted for this position will join our team by February 15th or sooner. That said, we’ll work with the finalist to ensure a timeline that fits their transition needs.
