This is a Fixed-Term Contract until the end of December 2025, Part Time working 18 hours a week.

What you will be doing

This post forms part of the Grants Team, which brings together management of our Commissions, Heritage at Risk related, National Capacity Building and all other grant streams.

As the Grants Manager (Repair & Maintenance), working with line management, Regional Teams, and Public Engagement, you will make a major contribution to the successful delivery of the Historic England Corporate Plan. You will take a pro-active role in the central administration and delivery of the grants delivered by the Regional Teams. The Regional grants budget currently comprises grant-aid worth c.£11m per annum; and the Heritage at Risk Capital Fund comprises grant-aid worth £15m in 2025/26.

Who we are looking for

  • Significant experience and a proven track record of grant or other major financial management

  • Significant experience in prioritising and assessing grant applications and designs especially in terms of value for money and outcomes

  • Experience of line management and/or effective management skills exercised in a high pressure environment

  • A sound understanding of grants management systems

  • Ability and willingness to constructively challenge established priorities, practices, and structures

  • Ability to communicate persuasively and diplomatically with staff at all levels, and with colleagues and a diversity of external partners
