About the IMEU Policy Project:
IMEU Policy Project (IMEU PP) works to educate elected officials, policy-makers, and voters, and advocate in Congress and the Executive Branch for US policies that advance Palestinian rights and freedom. We operate from anti-racist principles and strongly reject all forms of bigotry and hatred. We work with movements and candidates who are aligned with our values.
IMEU PP is a 501(c)(4) organization affiliated with the Institute for Middle East Understanding (IMEU). IMEU was founded in 2005 by a group of concerned Americans who want to foster an increased understanding among Americans about Palestine and the Palestinians.
About the Role:
The IMEU PP is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Social Media Coordinator to support content creation, audience engagement, and digital storytelling. This role centers on rapid-response social media writing, influencer and partner outreach, and direct-to-camera video production for platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and X.
The ideal candidate is a strong digital communicator with a talent for translating complex political and policy issues into accessible, compelling social content. This person works comfortably on-camera, understands trends and platform best practices, and is able to coordinate online collaborations that broaden the reach of pro-rights, pro-justice messaging.
This is a full-time, remote-friendly position with preference for candidates located in or near Washington, DC.
The Social Media Coordinator will be accountable for the following areas:
Social Media Writing & Platform Management
Write clear, engaging, and platform-optimized posts across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, and YouTube.
Draft rapid-response content during breaking news cycles and advocacy moments.
Translate complex policy, human rights, and political topics into accessible digital narratives.
Collaborate with policy and communications teams to ensure accuracy, consistency, and strong messaging alignment.
Support the development of graphics, digital ads, and short-form videos.
On-Camera Video Production
Serve as an on-camera presenter for short-form videos (TikTok, Reels, Shorts).
Film and edit direct-to-camera videos providing analysis, explainers, and narrative storytelling.
Identify and adapt to emerging content formats and platform trends.
Lead on scripting, recording, and editing direct-to-camera digital video content.
Influencer & Partner Outreach
Identify, research, and maintain relationships with aligned influencers, creators, and partner organizations.
Coordinate message alignment, content collaborations, and social cross-promotion.
Track outreach, manage communication workflows, and follow up to ensure timely posting and deliverables
Support the development of influencer briefing materials and messaging guides.
Social Monitoring, Analytics, & Optimization
Track platform performance and identify opportunities to increase reach, engagement, and audience growth.
Monitor social conversations, trending topics, misinformation, and movement moments.
Report analytics to the Communications Director and recommend optimizations.
Maintain a consistent posting schedule and content pipeline.
Qualifications:
3-5 years of experience in social media content creation, digital communications, or related roles.
Demonstrated excellence in social media writing for public audiences.
Experience appearing on-camera and creating high-quality short-form video content.
Familiarity with progressive movements and human rights advocacy preferred.
Understanding of social platforms, trends, and analytics tools.
Experience collaborating with influencers or online creators is strongly preferred.
Skills and Attributes:
Exceptional writer with strong editorial judgment and attention to detail.
Comfortable presenting on camera with clarity, confidence, and authenticity.
Ability to synthesize complex information quickly and translate it into compelling content.
Highly organized and able to manage multiple content streams simultaneously.
Creative, adaptable, and proactive in fast-paced digital environments.
Deep alignment with IMEU’s mission and values, including a commitment to justice and Palestinian human rights.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $76,000 – $86,000/annually. Salary is based on experience and is consistent with the IMEU's compensation framework.
