Job Description

About us

Transparency International is a global movement sharing one vision: a world in which government politics, business and the daily lives of people are free of corruption. Transparency International UK is the UK national chapter of this movement and is Britain’s leading anti-corruption non-governmental organisation. We work with the British government, parliamentarians, civil society and the private sector to tackle corruption at home, addressing the UK’s global corruption footprint and helping multinational companies prevent corruption by operating with integrity. We are also home to two major global programmes tackling corruption in the Defence and Security sector and Global Health on behalf of the wider Transparency International movement.

About the role

These days corruption is rarely far from the UK headlines. Think of the latest Westminster integrity scandals, the UK’s continued role as the preferred destination for the dirty money of oligarchs closely linked to the Kremlin and the remaining questions over how billions of pounds worth of COVID-19 contracts were awarded to companies with political connections.

In the last couple of years at Transparency International UK we have taken major strides forward in achieving new government legislation to begin to clamp down on dirty money, pushed for changes to build integrity in politics and have developed partnerships with businesses keen to fight corruption.  But as the headlines indicate, there remains much to do.

Now we are looking for a full-time permanent Senior UK Media and Communications Manager who can build on our respected profile and extensive coverage in traditional and social media by creating compelling and innovative communications for all our channels to engage the decision-makers who make the changes we want happen.

You will be joining our small but high achieving Media and Communications team (which is part of a larger Development, Communications and Impact team) at an exciting time. We are building on major successes last year to push for further key legislation to stop illicit financial flows, build pressure on changes needed to embed political integrity and build our partnerships with businesses committing to stamping out corruption.

As Senior UK Media and Communications Manager, you will work closely with the UK policy team, focusing on dirty money and our investigations, integrity in politics, protecting public resources from corruption and business integrity.

Key to the job will be leading and delivering our critically important media and communications plans for our UK website and traditional and social media.

This role also includes:

  • significant journalistic experience or communications experience working for an evidence-based organisation campaigning for policy change

  • experienced at drafting news articles and/or press releases

  • experienced at using social media effectively professionally in particular, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram

  • a self-starter able to work with little supervision but happy to work as part of a team

  • a good and confident communicator

  • able to work to tight deadlines and to prioritise your work effectively

  • ideally you will also have video editing and photoshop skills

Benefits

In exchange we will offer:

  • 28 days annual leave, plus bank holidays
