Job Description
About the Role
Blackbird is looking for a motivated and proactive IT Analyst to join our IT team. This is a great chance to use your tech skills to make things run smoothly and provide excellent support to everyone at Blackbird, from our team to the founders we back, and the wider community we're part of.
You'll play a key role in keeping our IT systems in top shape, making workflows better, and ensuring everything is reliable, secure, and working as it should. You'll use your analytical skills to spot areas where we can improve and put solutions in place. We want someone who embodies our values of Never Settle and All in Together, and who's keen to keep improving how we do things, with a focus on being helpful and thoughtful in all your interactions.
Here's a glimpse of what you'll achieve:
Be the first point of contact for the IT help desk, providing friendly and effective support to staff across our Sydney, Melbourne, and Auckland offices, as well as our remote staff, ensuring everyone has the tools and support they need.
Monitor our main IT systems (Google Workspace, Zoom, Slack, MacOS, etc.) and keep them running smoothly, providing great support to our team.
Find manual, repetitive IT and operational tasks and come up with solutions to make things more efficient and reduce errors, freeing up time for the team to focus on what really matters.
Use best practice techniques in your daily IT operations, and maintain effective operational and security measures that protect our Blackbirds, our founders, and our investors.
Position Requirements
We know that candidates, especially women and people from underrepresented backgrounds, often hesitate to apply unless they meet 100% of the qualifications. If this role excites you and you meet most of the requirements, we encourage you to apply. We value potential and are committed to supporting growth in this role.
Strong Technical Skills: Hands-on experience in managing and troubleshooting modern IT infrastructure and systems, including proficiency with platforms like Google Workspace, Zoom, Slack, and MacOS. Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) and automation tools is desirable.
Operational Focus: A passion for finding ways to improve how things work and a proven ability to put effective solutions in place.
Problem-Solving Skills: A natural aptitude for analysing problems, identifying patterns, and developing creative solutions.
Teamwork and Communication: Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to explain technical information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences. A helpful and thoughtful approach to supporting colleagues, founders, and community members is essential.
Ownership: A high degree of ownership and the ability to take responsibility for goals and outcomes. A proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges is crucial.
Low Ego: A humble approach to your work, with a willingness to take on any task, big or small, and a focus on contributing to the team's success.
This role requires full time, legal work rights in Australia and is based in Sydney with the flexibility to work from home.
If you're a technically skilled and driven person with a passion for improving IT operations, we encourage you to apply and help us build a leading IT function at Blackbird, enabling us to better serve our founders and our community.
