About the PRI

The PRI is the world’s leading proponent of responsible investment. It works to understand the investment implications of sustainability-related and governance factors and to support its international network of investor signatories in incorporating these factors into their investment and ownership decisions.

The PRI’s three distinct capabilities relate to the core elements of the PRI’s approach to achieving a sustainable financial system.

  • Translate RI (Responsible Investment) thought leadership into insights and practical support that is tailored to what signatories need to progress their RI practice

  • Convene our vast network to create opportunities for collaborative action

  • Harness our global scale to influence policymakers and regulators to effect system change

Job Description

This is an opportunity to work within the PRI’s Investor Initiatives & Collaboration team. PRI’s Investor Initiatives Portfolio team works alongside the sustainability & Stewardship teams to strengthen opportunities to work together.

Stewardship is one of the most powerful mechanisms by which investors and their agents can contribute to the achievement of the PRI’s mission: the creation of a sustainable financial system which benefits the environment and society as a whole. This role is an exciting opportunity for a current student or recent graduate to learn about responsible investment and stewardship, as well as to contribute towards the mission of the PRI.

Specifically, this role will assist with the PRI’s support for sustainability-related investor activities around proxy voting at companies’ Annual General Meetings (AGMs). It will also involve providing broader support to other projects within the PRI’s stewardship team.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Research and consolidate sustainability-related resolutions and votes to be shared via the PRI’s Resolution Database, including owning a dataset and overseeing data cleaning and analysis.

  • Prepare weekly external newsletters to inform signatories of new and ongoing collaborations, and, once proxy season starts, upcoming AGMs and votes

  • Support signatories with their queries on the Resolution Database

  • Support PRI staff in staying up-to-date throughout proxy season

Person Specification

  • Qualification or degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent work experience

  • Strong and demonstrable interest in responsible investment, stewardship, sustainability and finance

  • Motivated by the work of the PRI

  • Proactive, communicative and curious

  • A professional manner in dealing with senior business professionals

  • Diplomacy, tact, and ability to work well in teams and independently

Essential skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Research, data cleaning and analysis skills including proficiency in excel (to be tested at the interview stage).

  • Ability to manage own workload in organised manner, documenting decisions and methodologies

  • Fluency in both spoken and written English

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • All candidates must have eligibility to work in the UK without visa sponsorship.  While every effort is made to contain the needs of the role within the usual working day, there will be an occasional need to work outside of hours owing to the international nature of the PRI.

We particularly welcome candidates from under-represented groups, including Black, Asian, and other People of Colour, those with visible or non-visible disabilities, LGBTQ+ candidates and those who are neurodivergent.

N.B. We reserve the right to close a vacancy before the closing date in the event of an overwhelming response or a change in business priorities.
