Job Description

The Senior Events Manager is a vital role within the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market. With a presence at over 150 international events in 2024 alone, impactful events are essential to raising awareness about the Integrity Council’s work, promoting the organisation’s reputation through high-quality speakers and content and enhancing the visibility of the organisation’s brand.

The role will be responsible for the development and delivery of a high-impact events strategy which supports the Integrity Council’s objectives as a global governance body defining the standard for high integrity in the voluntary carbon market, helping deliver and scale that market and building support for its work from diverse stakeholders. The role will include: utilising networks and building relationships with partner organisations and high-level stakeholders; delivering events in support of strategic goals; and collaborating with other organisations where strategically beneficial. The role will also lead on fundraising for the delivery of events including securing sponsorship.

The Senior Events Manager works closely with the Communications, Public Affairs, Indigenous Peoples and local communities and Operations Teams within the Executive Secretariat. This role will also liaise closely with the organisation’s key spokespeople including members of the ICVCM Governing Board, Expert Panel and Indigenous Peoples and/or local Communities Forum. The manager will manage and be supported directly by the Events Officer. The role will ensure the Integrity Council’s presence at events and hosted events is well-organised and well briefed to ensure maximum impact.

To be our Senior Events Manager, you should bring substantial experience - likely to be 5+ years - of planning, managing and delivering a successful year-round global events calendar with sector-wide anchor events; if this is in the climate space, and you have experience of regional climate weeks and COP, even better! You'll be comfortable working with very high-level speakers such as government ministers and CEOs, with experience of securing speaker opportunities aligned to strategic objectives, and will of course have excellent communication and all-round event management skills. You'll need to work in partnership with colleagues and external partners, and drive delivery of events in line with agreed budgets.

Experience of line management in a remote context will also help you succeed.
