Job Description

Summary

We are the public body that looks after England’s historic environment. We champion historic places, helping people understand, value and care for them.

Historic England have a fantastic opportunity for you to join us as our Photographic Officer.

This post is a Fixed-Term Contract until , working 21.6 hours a week and located in Cambridge.

What you will be doing

As our Photographic Officer, you will collaborate with colleagues within the organisation and across the heritage sector to undertake photography which captures inspiring, high quality images to help Historic England champion and protect the historic environment.

You will photographically record aspects of the historic environment (with an emphasis on buildings and the built environment) as part of an inter-disciplinary team containing other photographers as well as both graphics and marketing expertise.

You will help to raise the profile of Historic England through delivering exceptional photography and ensuring all images are represented to the highest standards.

You will add to the nationally important Historic England Archive by ensuring images are uploaded with appropriate metadata and standards.

Who we are looking for

  • Proven experience in architectural photography

  • Proven experience in lighting interiors

  • High standard of academic qualification or professional experience in image making

  • Experience of post-production skills and archiving standards

  • Demonstrate ability to problem solve and work self sufficiently

  • Demonstrate knowledge of building history or working experience in the heritage sector

  • Hold a full valid UK driving license
