Job Description

We are looking for a writer, journalist, editor or culture-maker to direct how we weave stories about Slow Ways into our personal and collective imaginations. From walking epic journeys to surveying their local routes, people are at the heart of Slow Ways. We want to share their stories while helping the initiative as a whole to flourish. As our Stories Leader, you will write and edit stories, commission content and manage our channels of communication.

You will be responsible for:

  • Identifying, nurturing, following and sharing Slow Ways people and stories.

  • Creating and delivering a communications strategy for Slow Ways people, places, routes, stories and tech.

  • Working closely with our new Community Growth, Diversity and Nurturing Leader to identify and share diverse, inclusive and inspiring stories.

  • Producing engaging text, image and video.

  • Managing and delivering the Slow Ways email communications.

  • Developing our social media reach and influence and managing these accounts on a day to day basis.

  • Building relationships with influencers, journalists and the media.

  • Organising and participating in events to build community and boost brand awareness.

Desirable skills:

  • Creating, commissioning, editing and curating engaging content.

  • Designing KPIs and metrics to measure success, monitor and report on communications results.

  • Manage a significant budget to inspire people to use Slow Ways and tell the world about them.

  • Fluent written Welsh is desirable but not essential.
