Job Description

Summary

We are the public body that looks after England’s historic environment. We champion historic places, helping people understand, value and care for them.

Historic England have a fantastic opportunity for you to join us as our Media Manager.

This position is a Maternity cover. The role is part time, 21.6 hours per week.

You can be based out of any of our nine offices, inclusive with hybrid working.

Salary

National £39,590 - £41,300 pro-rata

GL+ £42,624 - £44,400 pro-rata

Inner London £44,073 - £46,300 pro-rata

What you will be doing

England’s rich and widespread heritage is a source of delight and fascination to people from all over the world, and a major factor in our success as a nation. Our Communications department enables public and specialist audiences to understand, enjoy and look after it.

Historic England is the public body that helps people care for, enjoy and celebrate England’s spectacular historic environment, from beaches and battlefields to parks and pie shops. Our media work will open up the historic environment for everyone, using public information, our unsurpassed archive, exhibitions, digital resources, cultural public programming and focused campaigns to drive engagement in our work.

As our Media Manager, you will manage Historic England’s reputation in the media by handling sensitive issues and generating coverage that drives up interest and engagement in the work of Historic England among opinion-formers and the interested public.

Please note, the role may require travel within England and overtime may be required on occasion.

Who we are looking for

  • Proven experience of delivering media coverage to deliver an organisation’s aims

  • Knowledge of the media

  • Experience of handling complex media enquiries and advising on reputation risk

  • Experience of cross team collaboration and partnership working

  • Experience of devising and co-ordinating multi-channel communications plans
