Camden is changing on the inside to make life better for everyone. Because we're not just home to the UK's fast-growing economy. We're home to the most important conversations happening today. And we're making radical social change a reality so that nobody gets left behind. We are seeking four highly motivated, proactive and exceptionally well-organised Cabinet Officers to work closely with the Cabinet of Camden Council.

The role

This is an important role in providing administrative and policy assistance to the senior elected leadership of the council, sitting within the Council's Cabinet Office which as a team provides comprehensive support to the Leader, Deputy Leader and wider Cabinet.

The Cabinet Officer role will incorporate diary and inbox management, speechwriting and briefings, engaging with colleagues across communications, policy and service design. You will work closely with other Cabinet Officers working to Cabinet Members and the Cabinet Office to ensure the timely escalation of issues, sharing of activity, events and insight. You will take initiative to ensure that Cabinet Members are informed of emerging issues, new ideas and opportunities.

You will have a good understanding of the current issues that affect local government and Camden specifically. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a role at the heart of a dynamic Council working closely with elected members but also with a wide range of colleagues to deliver the best outcomes for residents and communities.

About you

To succeed in this role, you will bring your experience working in high profile, fast-paced executive support environments, including diary management and briefings for senior officials.

You will have experience working with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external; you will be comfortable working with senior elected members and officers, using your good judgement to anticipate issues, provide information and proactively manage a busy schedule with competing priorities. You will have first-class writing skills, and the ability to research and draft materials such as briefings, replies to correspondence and summarising policies and reports. You will know and understand the issues affecting local government, as well as the roles and functions of local government.

We’re ready to welcome your ideas, your views, and your rebellious spirit. Help us redefine our corporate services, and we’ll redefine what a career can be.
