Job Description

The Holocaust Educational Trust team is made up of hard working, energetic people who are passionate about our mission to educate every person from every background in the UK about the Holocaust and its contemporary relevance. We believe that the Holocaust must have a permanent place in our nation’s collective memory and work across the UK, providing a wide range of educational programmes and initiatives to achieve this mission.

The Trust’s Ambassador Programme is a youth engagement programme, which aims to educate and engage young people aged 16-25 years old. We have over 45,000 Ambassadors who have all completed the Trust’s Lessons from Auschwitz (LFA) Project and now engage with us, via our projects and events to continue learning about the Holocaust and its contemporary relevance today, and to share what they have learned within their communities to ensure the Holocaust is remembered.

As a Programme Coordinator you will play a key role in engaging our dynamic and growing community of young people, working directly on youth engagement and assisting in the development of our programme.

The successful candidate will work with the team on the development of the programme, while supporting the day-to-day running of our events which includes workshops, conferences and international study visits.

As Ambassador Programme Coordinator, you will be the first port of call for Ambassadors, supporting with enquiries, projects and providing guidance to Ambassadors ensuring that all activity is being carefully tracked and monitored.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about youth engagement and development. A team player who can juggle competing demands and works well under pressure.

An Ambassador Programme Coordinator should be:

In your first 6 months, you’ll:

Deliver and develop projects and events:

  • Work with the Ambassador Programme Manager to coordinate the logistics of the programme’s calendar of events, including the Trust’s annual Ambassador Conference, study days and our overseas Ambassador Study Visits.

  • Monitor and evaluate all projects to ensure continual and improved engagement from Ambassadors.

  • Work with the Ambassador Programme Manager to develop projects and events, based on continual engagement and further impact.

  • Streamline all processes and administration, ensure all administration around events is efficient.

Liaise with and Engage the Ambassador Community

  • Engage with Ambassadors, provide support and guidance to them as they organise their own projects and events.

  • Visit Ambassador projects and engage with the wider Ambassador community.

  • Develop new methods of engagement and support for Ambassadors, based on feedback, evaluation and monitoring.

Facilitate Ambassador Engagement with Trust and Partner Events

  • Coordinate Ambassador attendance and participation at events.

Update and Maintain Records

  • Maintain the Ambassador Programme database, tracking Ambassador activity throughout the year to evaluate the reach of the Programme.

  • Maintain the Ambassador section of the Trust’s website, ensuring that Ambassadors have access to relevant updates, guidance and information.

  • Respond to phone and email enquiries from Ambassadors, logging all relevant communications/activity, and coordinating relevant follow up.

  • Identify and record case studies which highlight the best examples of Ambassador engagement.

  • Work with the Lessons from Auschwitz Project team to communicate with Ambassadors following their successful completion of Project including having an insight into the processing, moderation and content of Next Steps projects and identifying Ambassadors to speak at Follow Up Seminars and briefing those Ambassadors accordingly.

Other

  • Support the Lessons from Auschwitz Project team in a logistical role on our one-day visits to Auschwitz-Birkenau (up to three visits per year).

  • Attend events organised by the Trust throughout the year.

After 6 months in post, we'd expect you to:

Programme Development

• Develop new ideas for the project and events to engage the Ambassador community in our work.

• Assist in creating a monitoring and evaluation framework for the whole programme.

• Evaluate the impact of present projects and ways to improve, progress and further develop these projects.

Ambassador Engagement

• Liaise with Ambassadors regularly and establish a framework of communication with the wider community.

• Visit Ambassador projects and events once per term.

• Gain regular feedback from Ambassadors and implement recommendations to new/progressing projects.
