Job Description:

The Business Analyst is responsible for providing an analytical role between the technology and business teams, driving the overarching business analysis activities, supporting the development of business applications solutions, working closely with internal users and our service providers. 

You will foster a business partnership approach, working collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels to deliver technological solutions that demonstrate operational efficiency with high value impact to our signatories. As a key member of the Technology team, you will work closely with the Head of Project Delivery and Technology team in engaging business stakeholders to understand, articulate and communicate customer requirements.

You will have excellent stakeholder management skills and confidence to challenge others in the right way, bringing your business and project experience to achieve desirable outcome. You will report to the Head of Project Delivery to deliver effective technology projects and demands, and ideally have experience of working with a global organisation.

Core Responsibilities:

Act as a Technology business partner:

  • Build relationships and be the conduit between the Technology team and the business.

  • Build an understanding of business processes and articulate and define requirements (translating between technical and non-technical description).

  • Refine requests, write user stories, groom and prioritise the backlog.

  • Develop Agile knowledge and our project delivery framework (PDF) methodology for our business users.

  • Present project prioritisation and status updates at Technology team meetings.

Collaborate with QA team:

  • Develop testing strategies and ensure best practice.

  • Generate test data.

  • Write acceptance criteria.

  • Provide support to SMEs in executing tests.

  • Execute tests where required, including regression testing.

Manage projects in line with Agile principles and PDF methodology:

  • Facilitate and manage projects, relationships and meetings between the business, technology resources and third parties.

  • Escalate risk as appropriate.

  • Report on project progress as required by the Technology team and PMO.

  • Monitor project documentation and ensure it is accurate and kept up to date.

  • Conduct launch verification.

In collaboration with the Project Delivery team further develop a vision of best practice at the PRI:

  • Creating templates for business requirements gathering, elicitation, workflows, project documentation and reporting.

  • Ensure project guidance is kept up to date.

  • Introduce and maintain BA best practices and tooling.

  • Promote the application of Agile methodologies.

  • Support and comply with Technology governance processes, including change control and data security.

  • Support the Director of Technology and Infrastructure in delivering against the team’s business plan and budget.

  • Provide regular reporting to the Director of Technology and Infrastructure and Chief Operating Officer as required.

Person Specification

  • Demonstrable experience as a Business Analyst or Systems Analyst in a technology, software development, SaaS, API and/or services integration, and problem solving.

  • Proven experience of Agile project development and delivery in a software and/or cloud-based environment. Including experience in the end-to-end product development lifecycle, i.e. you will have had a key role in at least one major software/SaaS/PaaS product development project from inception through to launch.

  • Strong understanding of various business applications, technology applications, data platforms, both on premise and cloud hosted environments.

  • Demonstrable business applications projects are essential e.g. Salesforce, Sage X3, Sage People, Asana, Jira, and general exposure to Microsoft applications is an advantage.

  • Demonstrable working experience in translating technical to non-technical business engagement and delivering visualisations of the targeted solutions.

  • Good knowledge and experience of working in an Agile/Scrum environment and the ability to adapt Agile or Scrum principles to meet differing needs.

  • Experience of project management, business analysis techniques, development of project lifecycle and strategic delivery is essential.

  • Project Management, Business Analyst certifications, such as PMP, Prince2, IIBA, CBAP, AgilePM certification is desirable.

  • Ability to facilitate requirement gathering workshops and confidently present to and influence senior management.

  • Ability to embrace and adapt changes, working with limited information and ambiguity in an ecosystem that is rapidly evolving.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, managing work prioritisation with competing priorities and handling conflicts and/or difficult discussions.

  • Good written communication and verbal presentation skills.

  • A collaborative and consultative approach to working with others and the ability to fostering an inclusive working environment. 

  • A commitment to developing others and a growth mindset, actively pursuing continuous profession and personal development.

  • Excellent networking, relationship management and interpersonal skills and experience of building strong and productive relationships to drive forward a business partnering approach.

  • Language skills, other than English, are desirable
