Job Description

At Unreasonable, we build community between entrepreneurs, institutions, and investors to profitably solve pressing global problems. We believe entrepreneurial-led businesses building rapidly scalable solutions are the greatest untapped resource for solving the most significant social and environmental challenges of our time. Every day, our team strives to give the entrepreneurs we work with an unfair advantage to succeed. We do this by connecting them with our networks of mentors, investors, business leaders, and policymakers that can help them drive impact and scale their businesses faster. Today, the over 280 CEO’s in the Unreasonable Fellowship have raised more than $7.2B in financing, generated more than $5.5B in revenue, and are measurably impacting the lives of more than 730 million individuals in nearly every country and territory worldwide. But we’re just getting started...

As Unreasonable’s Media and Communications Team, we leverage storytelling in its various forms and across all media channels to generate as much exposure and awareness for our brand and our community. We are now searching for a Senior Manager of Press and Communications to report to the Senior Director of Media and Communications, and work within the Media & Communications team spanning brand, communications, video, and social media functions, and to support in strengthening and amplifying the profile of Unreasonable across all communications touchpoints. The Senior Manager  will assist in developing, executing and managing Unreasonable's external communications strategy globally, working closely with the social media manager to develop an integrated global communications strategy. Specifically, the Senior Manager will support in generating Unreasonable press assets, in particular engaging and exciting content, as well as work with each of our corporate partners to design and implement communications related to every program that is run at Unreasonable.  This role will also have external stakeholder responsibility in particular managing and leading on the communications and media for a number of Unreasonable partnerships.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Media & Press Relations

  • Develop and execute highly effective tier one media strategy to elevate and amplify Unreasonable’s story

  • Support media relations including developing and maintaining new and existing relationships with key journalists and influencers across top tier business, consumer and trade press

  • Develop robust and engaging long form content to be leveraged across publications, socials (LinkedIn in particular) and partner channels to help drive exposure and credibility to the Unreasonable brand and our partnerships

  • Seek out content and partnership opportunities to promote Unreasonable’s thought leadership, including speaking engagements and platforms, conference attendance, podcasts, guest blogs etc (Note: Press and related communications activities will make up ~80% of this role)

Internal Communications:

  • Develop and manage an internal communications strategy working closely with the People’s Operations team to engage, excite and connect the globally distributed team

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR....

  • You have in-depth knowledge of global media with deep understanding and relationships with key journalists including The New York Times, The Guardian, The Economist, Financial Times, Business Insider, Upworthy, Fast Company, TechCrunch etc. and/or are comfortable and confident building such relationships in a genuine way

  • You have superior communications skills and are a skilled writer, able to deliver compelling and engaging content

  • You believe in the power of telling stories that drive action.

  • You have experience developing and executing a highly-effective ”tier one” media strategy to better tell Unreasonable’s and our ventures’ story.

  • You are able to seek out content and partnership opportunities to promote Unreasonable’s thought leadership, including speaking engagements and platforms

  • You are well versed in the key themes surrounding the social and environmental impact ecosystem.

  • You are supremely entrepreneurial and love to run experiments to test your ideas.

  • You are equal parts left-brain and right-brain. You are wildly creative, yet you love to analyze the details to make informed decisions.

  • You believe magic is in the details. Every pixel and letter counts.

  • You are a flawless multi-tasker, able to seamlessly shift between conversations, projects, and relationships. You thrive in this kind of environment.

  • You are equally able to collaborate with a multinational partner or teammate as you are able to take full ownership of a project from start to finish.

  • You enjoy working on a small, fast-paced team with autonomy and ambiguity, willing to jump on tasks as they arise.

  • You show up with empathy, humility and generosity. Your intent with all your work is to create a positive impact – for entrepreneurs, your team members, and beyond.

  • You believe deeply in the importance of transparent and honest communication in what you write and how you interact with others.

  • You are what we would refer to as a GyShiDo Master.

  • You always follow up and follow through on your word and your commitments.

  • You are not the type of person who says, “That’s not my job."

  • As you read Unreasonable’s Beliefs, you get more and more excited with each value you come across.
