Job Description

About The Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM)

The Integrity Council is an independent governance body for the voluntary carbon market. Its purpose is to ensure the voluntary carbon market accelerates a just transition to 1.5ºC.

Its mandate has three parts:

  • Establish, host, and curate a set of Core Carbon Principles (CCPs), which will set new threshold standards for high-quality carbon credits and define which carbon-crediting programs and methodology types are CCP-eligible.

  • Provide governance and oversight over carbon-crediting programs on adherence to CCPs as well as on market infrastructure and participant eligibility.

  • Help to coordinate and manage interlinkages between individual bodies; define a roadmap for the responsible growth of the Voluntary Carbon Market

The Integrity Council is uniquely positioned to ensure the integrity of the VCM because it is built on world-leading and globally diverse expertise from across the carbon market value chain. You can find out more about who we are at www.icvcm.org.

About you and the role

As a project manager, you'll design, plan and co-ordinate all aspects of a project to ensure effective delivery, including project governance, risk and issue management, budget, resourcing, dependency management and benefits realisation. You'll be a key point of contact for all project stakeholders and will report to a Programme Manager. Examples of projects you may be allocated to include our CCP assessment process, continuous improvement work programs, IP&LC engagement and internal operations projects, such as IT improvements.

Here’s a taste of what you’ll do:

  • Implement and manage complex multi-layered projects/workstreams in line with the agreed strategy.

  • Monitor project risks and identify potential problems and solutions to address them in advance.

  • Use relevant project management and communication tools to meet project goals and to facilitate coordination.

  • Identify needs that the clients may not recognise and ensure approaches and solutions are linked to objectives and future needs.

  • Develop strong and effective relationships with key stakeholders and ensure effective communication and support for the project and/or workstream

  • Undertake collation, management and high-level analysis of data to support and inform delivery of the project or workstream

  • Manage project documents effectively.

Your skills

You'll be the right person for this job if:

  • You have experience of delivering complex, multi-layered projects across the full project lifecycle

  • You're passionate about solving problems, no matter if they're big or small; and have a strong mindset of getting things done.

  • You actively identify opportunities, deliver improvements, and proactively implement and follow project management methodologies and processes (primarily Agile).

  • You are great at managing expectations, ensuring delivery of the highest quality service, and balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders.

  • You have great communication skills (verbal and written), especially when it comes to communicating and documenting project statuses and recommendations.

  • You are confident with project governance and reporting methods.

  • You have experience managing and delivering projects within or related to the Voluntary Carbon Market, environmental science, sustainable development, stakeholder engagement and/or Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities.

Benefits

You'll benefit from:

  • working in a fast-paced, agile start-up where no two days are the same

  • the opportunity to shape your role and develop skills/gain experience across a range of areas

  • 30 days annual leave (plus bank holidays)
