About the Program

The Sunrise Organising Lab (SOL) is a program of The Sunrise Project that works to build a more powerful and effective movement to shift finance out of fossil fuels and into clean energy. We do this by focusing on three key areas: strategy design and iteration across our campaigns and with our partners; partnerships and regranting to ensure we’re scaling organisations and ecosystems to win; and powerbuilding and constituency organising to bring in new, needed groups to shift key stakeholders while also growing the number and types of voices in our movement.

About The Role

This is a new, senior level role who will make our partnerships and grantmaking more strategic. This position will serve as key oversight of partnerships, regranting, reporting on our ecosystem, and leading key cross-team grants to ensure our grantmaking is aligned with strategy, our partnership principles, and that we’re supporting our partners, teams, and network to succeed.

The Sunrise Project’s Global Finance team is focused on supporting and nurturing strategic networks of NGOs, civil society organizations, and other groups to design and run campaigns that shift finance out of fossil fuels. Some of these partners are grounded in grassroots communities on the frontlines of fossil fuel expansion or the clean energy build out; some are core constituencies in shifting politics to secure policies; others are elite decision makers in companies who can shift power away from fossil fuels or towards renewable energy. This role will ensure we’re developing collaborative partnerships; making strategic grants, and understanding the ecosystems and networks we’re working with.

This role will work with the entire Global Finance team to lead our partnership and grantmaking practices to ensure they’re in line with our principles; strategies, and our overall mission. This will include leading the redesign of and training on Global Finance practices working with and understanding our partners and making grants; leading on key cross program grants; building out movement metrics; and producing reports that show the ecosystems and networks we’re funding and the gaps within them.

We support networks of organisations to work together to achieve outcomes that would not be possible by individual organisations acting alone. We expect all roles at Sunrise to actively support the capacity building of these networks and partner organisations.
