Job Description
Our unfolding telescopes have a custom payload, which requires design of custom electronics that need to survive in the space environment. In addition to that, the electronics payload needs to be able to fit mechanically into the satellite and be compatible with the rest of the payload and other subsystems. We are a fast-paced company and are developing multiple designs in parallel. The intern will develop and test their own electronics design that will fly in the final satellite, as well as support other workstreams in the electronics team if necessary.
Activities that the intern will undertake include:
- Designing the schematics and layout for one of the boards in the payload, which will include simulating various subcircuits in LTSpice and/or supporting thedesign with various calculations and sources and breadboard test results.
- Working with the mechanical team and firmware team to ensure that the design will fit into the telescope
- Organising a schematic and layout review
- Writing a test plan for the board
- Writing a report detailing the design decisions made to make the electronics space compatible and system compatible.
- Presenting the design and design decisions to the management team of SuperSharp
Activities that the intern may undertake include:
- Supporting electronics engineers in other workstreams
- Testing and debugging existing designs
We are looking for motivated candidates that are interested in Earth Observation instrumentation and working in a fast-paced start-up. Ideal candidates should have experience in electronics design and testing of complex systems.
Academic: Engineering Undergraduate Degree (with an electronics engineering focus)
Minimum requirements: Experience with electronics simulation (eg. LTSpice), electronics prototyping, and reading electronics schematics and datasheets. Good communication skills and ability to work autonomously.
Desirable requirements: Experience with ECAD packages (eg. Altium Designer or other). Experience designing and setting up test protocols for electronics.
