The Behavioural Insights Team
- Closing: 12:00pm, 30th Mar 2020 BST
Job Description
We are looking for computer scientists who want to solve hard problems and deliver positive, real-world impact.
We are building a technical R&D team inside a leading research/public policy organisation. You will work with friendly, smart, and enthusiastic colleagues, building tools to advance the state of the art in behavioural science and government technology.
We will work closely with our colleagues in the wider organisation, The Behavioural Insights Team (BIT - informally known as the 'nudge unit'), who are world leaders in applying behavioural science to improve social outcomes and government services. The wider team's diverse range of real-world projects, and deep expertise in behavioural psychology, provide fertile ground for technological innovation.
The Behavioural Insights Team exists to improve people’s lives and communities. We work in partnership with governments, local authorities, businesses and charities, often using simple changes to tackle major policy problems.
The Team has grown from a seven-person unit at the heart of the UK government to a global social purpose company with 200+ employees and offices around the world. Our work spanned 31 countries in the last year alone.

Keen to make a positive social impact with your work;
Able to read, understand and implement algorithms and techniques from computer science research papers, without clear documentation;
Excited and able to apply advanced techniques in real-world settings, e.g. creating integrations with APIs, working with hardware and SDKs, or handling live, messy datasets; and
A Masters or PhD in Computer Science or another numerate discipline is desirable.
About us + benefits
