Job Description
The Chief of Staff will work with the CEO in managing his office including time, priorities, communications and overall agenda. They will act as a trusted advisor and line manage the Executive Assistant and Leadership Communications Business Partner.
The Chief of Staff will work closely with the CEO on a variety of projects, helping to roll out new initiatives, priorities and ways of working as well as role modelling key behaviours and acting as a bridge to the wider organisation.
This role will play an important part in managing stakeholders, will work closely with the Leadership team and Board, and will represent the CEO internally and externally, deputising for and supporting him as required. The Chief of Staff will be responsible for the voice of the PRI’s CEO, working closely with him to develop and execute his stakeholder engagement, internal and external communications and events across a variety of platforms.
Core Responsibilities:
Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO, providing regular reporting as required
Build strong relationships and ways of working across the organisation, including with the Executive Team, acting as a conduit of information to/from the CEO
Support the CEO in achieving the executive office prioritises, business plan and budget
Develop and manage the CEO’s voice and communications strategy both internally and externally, in close collaboration with communications and public affairs colleagues
Work with signatories and stakeholders to help the CEO and wider organisation deliver on priorities and both strengthen and develop relationships
Manage projects jointly with or on behalf of the CEO and Executive Team, working across the PRI and with relevant stakeholders, including the Board
Role model key behaviours and help shape PRI’s culture in support of the CEO
Manage the CEO’s office, including working with the Executive Assistant and CEO Communications Business Partner to prioritise workload and maximise opportunities
Provide oversight and management of direct reports, supporting their development and managing their performance effectively to help the team fulfil their potential
Ensure direct reports meet agreed deadlines, acting as a point of escalation for team performance and quality issues
Person Specification
Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
Experience of multi-channel strategic communications and media strategy and execution
Excellent written communication and verbal presentation skills
Well-developed people management skills and experience of leading
A collaborative and consultative approach to working with others and commitment to fostering an inclusive environment
Demonstrates a commitment to developing others and a growth mindset, actively pursuing continuous professional and personal development
Excellent networking, relationship management and interpersonal skills and experience of building strong and productive relationships at a senior level
IT/digital skills (Microsoft Office, digital comms channels, Salesforce)
Very good programme management skills, with experience in delivering complex projects successfully, including directing others that may not be your direct reports
As this is a global role, occasional international travel may be required
Language skills, other than English, are desirable
