Job Description

Our Volunteer Experience Team supports all administration activities relating to volunteering good practice throughout the volunteer journey, with a specific focus on recruitment and retention of volunteers.  The Volunteer Experience Assistant  will regularly communicate with a wide range of potential and existing volunteers whilst maintaining our already high standard of customer service.  Actively working daily on the volunteer database, the role is responsible for keeping SSAFA’s volunteer records up to date and ensuring any issues are rectified.  

Throughout your time in this role you will have the opportunity to be involved with various initiatives in developing different points throughout the volunteer journey to achieve our team’s objectives.

Whilst the role has flexibility to work remotely, there will still remain a requirement to attend the London office if required.

About the team

Our team is dedicated to supporting our network of 2,700 volunteers as well as prospective volunteers. Each team member brings a breadth of skills and experience from whom you can learn new skills and develop your understanding of the volunteer lifecycle. We also welcome suggestions for new and exciting innovations so any ideas you may have are encouraged to be shared.

About you

Whilst this role is suitable for someone looking to take their first steps into volunteer experience management, experience in providing an administrative service to various stakeholders is key. Excellent interpersonal skills will also be required in order to provide SSAFA’s volunteers with the  high-level of customer service they expect.

On top of this you will need to demonstrate an ability to use IT software systems such as Microsoft Office, and databases to ensure information is processed in an accurate and timely way across SSAFA’s systems.

Whilst its not a necessity, experience of volunteering or working with volunteers would be advantageous to get up to speed in this role.
