About the role

Australia’s leading climate tech venture capital firm, Virescent Ventures, is looking for a Fund Operations Manager to join the team.

You will join a team that has invested in and manages a portfolio of some of Australia’s leading climate tech innovators, including hydrogen electrolyser developer Hysata, agtech startup Loam, novel lithium extraction and refining company Novalith, EV charging infrastructure company JET Charge, glassless solar module developer Sunman and more.

As part of our team, you will work closely with the Managing Partners to help set up and manage all operations and finance aspects of running a venture capital firm.

In this role you will:

  • Oversee the financial accounting and reporting for both the manager and the fund, with support from outsourced service providers

  • Prepare budgets and financial projections, and manage internal fund returns model and systems

  • Manage external audit and valuation processes

  • Manage tax advice and reviews, with support from outsourced service providers

  • Manage investor onboarding, oversee capital calls and distributions (also with outsourced support)

  • Oversee investor reporting, including working closely with the investment team

  • Manage the firm’s ESVCLP processes

  • Manage the relationship with the outsourced AFSL provider, ensuring compliance with all policies and other requirements

  • Manage firmwide policies, keeping them up-to-date and ensuring compliance

  • Manage impact and ESG reporting

  • Prepare board materials for Virescent Ventures

  • Generally ensure smooth running of the venture firm operations

About you

You will be a self-starter, comfortable working in a small fast-paced team. You will be curious, inquisitive and have a passion for learning. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and build strong relationships with stakeholders. You will be a structured thinker who is good at establishing and managing processes to streamline workflows and manage risk. You will have strong Excel skills. You will have a deep passion for the climate tech industry combined with a drive to achieve strong commercial returns. You will have a strong attention to detail and strive for accuracy. You will be a highly ethical person, with high integrity who reflects well on Virescent in the investment and start-up communities.

Qualifications in commerce or finance preferred; engineering or legal with relevant experience also considered.

Experience in VC/PE/other funds management/administration ideal but not essential. Manager level experience in financial industry (e.g., audit, transaction advisory, tax, accounting) with VC/PE/other funds knowledge also encouraged to apply.
