Job Description
Responsible for supporting the design & delivery of new (and existing) products to help PRI signatories fulfil their commitments to the six principles through their private equity (inc. venture capital and private credit) investment decisions and portfolios. Examples of current products include DDQs, introductory guides and case studies.
This high-profile position will contribute to and develop thought leadership, shaping research, analysis and guidance on all aspects of responsible investment in private equity across the PRI.
The successful candidate will be the ‘go to’ individual on private equity within PRI.
This opportunity is within the PRI’s Products & Practices team and will report to the Director of Guidance.
Core Responsibilities
Be recognised as a leader in the field of RI in private equity and have extensive knowledge of different approaches across private equity such as direct, indirect, secondaries and co-investments across buyouts, growth equity, venture capital and private credit.
Build on PRI’s reputation for excellent practical guidance and tools.
Work across the organisation to help develop and improve insights into the private equity market.
Have experience in hosting external events, dealing with press contacts and interacting at a range of levels, including C-Suite.
Understand, monitor, and develop relationships with other organisation such as iCI, ILPA, InvestEurope, IIGCC, SMI etc.
Product and service design
Alongside the appropriate Directors, build and improve the pipeline of PRI’s products for private equity investors.
Engage signatories, be aware of their requirements and develop products to respond to identified needs.
Ensure delivery against the team’s responsibilities within the Products and Practices group (and wider PRI) business plan.
Work within the Products and Practices team and with other teams across the organisation to develop and deliver programmes, guides, tools and events on RI.
Ensure delivery against the team’s responsibilities under the business plan and in line with budget, including working with and supporting other teams across PRI.
Provide regular reporting to the Director of Guidance and Executive Directors as required.
Depending on the individual and their management experience, this role may also provide line management of direct reports and other team members, supporting their development and managing their performance effectively to help the team fulfil their potential. This will be discussed with candidates during the interview process.
Person Specification
Extensive career experience working in or consulting to private equity, credit, or venture capital firms.
The candidate might come from an GP, LP, investment consultancy or similar organisation.
Experience in or knowledge of the integration of responsible investment in private equity portfolios or strategies.
Able to attract external programme funding, manage Request for Proposal process and interface with external funders.
Professional qualifications e.g., CAIA or CFA desirable
Expert understanding of private equity and RI with a broad topic knowledge around capital markets and ESG issues.
Proven track record of writing, contributing to and producing public analysis and reports on relevant topics.
Able to provide examples of innovation within previous roles.
Experience in managing teams, building cross team consensus and agreement enabling the delivery of team or programme objectives.
Well-developed people management skills and experience.
Strong networking, relationship management and interpersonal skills at a senior level.
Ability to support decision-making in diverse, multi-stakeholder groups.
Excellent written communication and verbal presentation skills
A collaborative and consultative approach to working with others, committed to fostering an inclusive working environment
Experience in building a social media presence, undertaking public presentations and hosting webinars is essential
This is a global role and international travel may be required
Language skills, other than English, are desirable
