Production Manager Needed

  • To achieve a step change. You will develop and implement manufacturing strategies to improve in manufacturing’s key performance indicators, safety, quality, productivity, on time delivery, and cost. Such that kpi targets flow up and down the organisation.

  • Excellent direction skills, you have an ability to speak to and motivate and inspire people at all levels to exceed targets.

  • Success will be achieved by working effectively with all on site.

  • You have personal credibility and presence that inspires team members to achieve and exceed targets.

Results Focus:

  • Delivering customer and production team happiness.

  • Steer and develop lean manufacturing activities with a culture of continuous improvement tools: e.g. 5S, Standard Work, Kanban, Value Stream Mapping, First Time Right etc.

  • Accountable for Environmental, Health & Safety, ensure this has greater focus.

  • Flex capacity to match market demands.

  • Control inventory on the shop floor, work in progress counts, stock take and daily material flow.

  • Deploy a user owned Visual Management System. Use operational metrics to root cause investigate any problems.

  • Participate in and provide input at every stage of the New Product Introduction process to ensure efficient and cost effective manufacturing is possible.

Your Focus:

  • Define and assist in training of shop floor employees.

  • With the management team, appreciate customer demands and through the strategic planning process. Cascade to manufacturing team.

  • Regular formal and informal performance feedback conducting monthly one to ones with all production staff.

Financial Focus:

  • Deliver budgeted orders, sales, margins, earnings before interest and tax.

  • Deliver departmental budget; provide periodic forecasts and inputs for monthly, quarterly, half & full-year reports.

  • Identify Capital Investment projects to improve safety, quality & boost productivity. Prepare payback justifications.

Additional Duties - include, but not limited to:

  • Health and Safety procedures are adhered to at all times

  • Conduct risk assessments of all shop floor operations

  • Coach Team Supervisors and Setters in safety management behaviours (accident prevention & near miss reduction), zero tolerance to unsafe working practices.

  • Training operators in manual handling

  • Provide tool box talks

  • Conducting & coach the Team Supervisors in safety walks

  • Engaging the shop floor employees weekly 5S audits

  • Utilising & updating our safety software on a timely basis.

  • The post is subject to the needs of the business and will develop and change in line with prevailing market conditions.

    • Ability:

      • A credible period in manufacturing people management role

      • Working knowledge of ISO9000

      • Define strategy, develop an action plan and implement

      • Demonstrate on time delivery in full

      • labour productivity improvements

    • Skills:

      • Strong supervisory skills

      • Microsoft, excel, powerpoint

      • knowledge of enterprize resource planning systems
