Job Description

Blackbird is looking to hire an Investor Relations Associate to supercharge engagement with our investors, building their trust and confidence in Blackbird as stewards of their capital. You will be a key part of delivering a world-class experience for investors through your attention to detail and delivering delightful interactions.

Here is what success might include in your first 12 months:

  • Data & reporting. This is the foundation of investor relations. You will ensure our quarterly and other investor materials are accurate, insightful, and timely. This includes quarterly reporting, presentations, due diligence documents and ad-hoc data requests.

  • Execution excellence.  You will be responsible for the end-to-end completion of investor relations workflows. You will comfortably leverage systems and technology to improve the speed and efficiency of investor reporting whilst maintaining the highest standards of accuracy.

  • Process improvement. You will implement operational procedures that help us better manage investor reporting, meetings, webinars and events. You will proactively manage scheduling, agendas, and completion of action items.

  • Tracking Blackbird’s success. Establish and manage processes to monitor the quality of our LP relationships and track our progress against fundraising objectives.

  • Collaboration. Work closely with Blackbird’s operations, investments and community teams to ensure timely and accurate information flows. You’ll contribute to key projects including raising capital, data analysis, data migration and the implementation of new systems.

You’ll be reporting to the Head of Investor Relations and have access to experts within Blackbird but with scope to take ownership of key documents and processes.

Position Requirements

Your background is less important than the key skills, which include:

  • Attention to detail. You should demonstrate a forensic approach to creating investor materials and experiences. We can’t emphasize enough how critical this skill is to succeed in the role.

  • Continuous improvement. We’re looking for someone who is excited by identifying and implementing continuous improvement in our processes.

  • Project management. Every day brings fresh challenges (a.k.a distractions)! You will need an ability to achieve outcomes whilst managing numerous, competing requests across a breadth of areas and a range of investors.

  • Problem solving. Intuition to identify when something isn’t right, and the creativity and confidence to propose and execute solutions.

  • Hospitality mindset. We infuse investor relations with ‘Enlightened Hospitality’, which means we all muck in together and have a collective obsession for customer service to our founders and investors. You should too.

  • Exceptional communication skills. An ability to convert complexity into beautiful, insightful content.

We recognise that this role may suit someone from a broad range of experiences and specializations. Prior experience in data, process improvement, or project management within accounting/audit, fund accounting, or fund operations is highly relevant to this role.

This role is full-time, based in Surry Hills (Sydney, NSW) or Cremorne (Melbourne, VIC) with the flexibility to work from home.

  • Connection: While being big fans of a fully distributed workforce, we value our vibe and time to connect online and IRL through team and company offsites, monthly social activities, weekly lunches and our many social clubs (#fun-manis, #fun-fantasybookclub, #bb-craft just to name a few!).
