Job Description

The Guild of Fine Food is a magazine publisher, trade body, events & awards organiser, and training provider with a mission to support, celebrate and encourage the independent food and drink industry across the UK and beyond. We work closely with retailers and producers across the sector and are the publishers of Fine Food Digest and organisers of the Great Taste and World Cheese Awards.

About you and the role

As Sales executive, you'll work within our growing sales team, helping our organisation to achieve monthly targets by selling advertising space in our publications, as well as event space at exhibitions throughout the year. You’ll own and grow your own portfolio of clients and help shape the future of the magazine and associated supplements both in print and digitally. You'll get stuck into the day-to-day sales rhythm, while also spotting opportunities for improvement and expansion.

This role will allow you to be involved in interacting with clients at all stages of the sales process by phone. This includes from the initial research and outreach to building relationships and helping onboard new clients.

Here’s a taste of what you’ll be involved in on a day-to-day basis:

  • Managing and building relationships with your own client database

  • Calling a volume of prospective clients per day (high priority)

  • Understanding your customers' needs and introducing our sales solutions at the right time

  • Closing sales daily across multiple projects

  • Creating new sales and sales opportunities

  • Representing our organisation at industry events and using your fabulous networking skills

Your skills

Ideally, you'll have a strong track record in sales and will be willing to work as part of a team in a business-to-business environment with a proven ability to develop client relationships and close sales over the phone.  Additionally, you'll be a strong communicator, with good organisation and an eye for detail.  You should be able to work under pressure, selling across multiple projects simultaneously.  You'll thrive on achieving regular individual and team targets across a range of initiatives and working to monthly deadlines.  Knowledge of CRM database software is desirable, but not essential.

Benefits

You'll benefit from:

  • Private Health insurance

  • Contributory pension

  • Life insurance

  • Opportunities for training and development

  • Flexible working policy

  • 25 days' holiday per year, plus bank holidays

You’ll answer some questions that are related to your day-to-day job. After the job closes, your answers will go through our sift process: all answers will be anonymised, randomised and then reviewed by a panel of reviewers.

If you are shortlisted, we’ll invite you to the next step, which includes initial interview on zoom, followed by meeting face to face with the Sales director. Also, we love giving feedback, so at the end of the application process, we'll let you know how well you performed.

Expected duration of this application process: Friday 27th May.
