Job Description
About us
Transparency International is a global movement sharing one vision: a world in which government politics, business and the daily lives of people are free of corruption. Transparency International UK is the UK national chapter of this movement. We work with the British government, parliamentarians, civil society and the private sector to tackle corruption at home, addressing the UK’s global corruption footprint and helping multinational companies prevent corruption by operating with integrity. We are also home to two major global programmes tackling corruption in the Defence and Security sector and Global Health on behalf of the wider Transparency International movement.
Transparency International Defence & Security (TI-DS) is one of TI’s global programmes and is committed to tackling corruption in defence and security sectors internationally. Hosted by Transparency International’s UK chapter, the programme works with defence institutions, governments, the defence industry, civil society and international organisations worldwide to strengthen transparency, accountability and oversight in a traditionally opaque and secretive sector.
About the role
The Multilaterals Lead is key to delivering the Transparency International Defence and Security (TI-DS) Strategy 2024-26. Responsibilities focus on designing and delivering strategic engagement and targeted advocacy with multilateral and international bodies, and mobilising national authorities and Transparency International Chapters in support of multilateral goals. As a senior member within the advocacy team, the Multilaterals Lead will use evidence to shape impactful campaigns, identify, develop, and strategically manage influential relationships with key stakeholders, engage with international civil society to draw partners into joint action, and deliver representation at policy levels within national, international, and multilateral fora, including the UN, EU, NATO, and other bodies.
In addition to this role you will:
Design, lead, and execute strategic engagement and targeted advocacy campaigns to reinforce anti-corruption within international and multilateral policies related to defence and security, aligning with the TI-DS Strategy 2024-26.
Identify and engage with key external actors, including civil society, academic institutions, and relevant stakeholders, to expand TI-DS's external network in alignment with multilateral goals.
Represent TI-DS's thought leadership and policy positions in UN, EU, and other multilateral forums, as well as to national authorities, international civil society, and TI Chapters.
Identify gaps in evidence and advocacy materials and conduct desk-based research to address these gaps.
Produce high-quality written outputs and verbal communications to support TI-DS engagement and advocacy.
Strengthened TI-DS policy positioning and advocacy through targeted evidence materials and clear, compelling communication.
Contribute to the overall delivery of TI-DS projects by coordinating and delivering grant-based outputs.
Ensure project deliverables are on time, of high quality, and within budget, with thorough and timely reporting.
Identify and cultivate funding opportunities to support TI-DS's multilateral engagement.
Contribute to the development of high-quality funding proposals in line with TI-DS priorities and opportunities.
