Job title: Quality Assurance Technician ( SHIFT - 1.45pm - 10.15pm)

Department: Technical

Salary: A competitive salary is available plus great company benefits 

Location: Kettering (NN14 1FJ)

Hours: Monday – Friday, 42.5 hours per week

The Role:

As a key player of the technical team this role will be involved in a variety of quality assurance processes including specification management, and auditing of food safety systems and procedures.

You will help ensure all our mochi products meet the criteria for safe and legal food supply.

You will be gaining experience in the production area learning about the manufacturing process and ensuring all technical requirements and company’s standards are met and are compliant with UK/EU statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand, observe and help ensure compliance with Food Safety and Health and Safety rules and be aware of the safety of self and others to promote a safe working environment.

  • Monitor operational procedures, CCPs and GMP and advise Manufacturing, Engineering and Technical management, where appropriate to ensure they are aware of any situations where products and/or activities are outside defined parameters, and where improvements in product and process quality could be made

  • Evaluate site data and information to provide advice to Technical and Operations Management so that informed business decisions can be made

  • Manage daily, weekly and monthly QA tasks

  • Complete customer complaints traceability and internal traceability exercises

  • Perform staff training/re-briefs following documentation updates, complaints and non-conformances

  • Influence colleagues and stakeholders to adopt new ways of working to improve what we do

  • To assist other members of the Technical Team in order to ensure the day to day routine technical, quality control, GMP (good manufacturing practices) and hygiene tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.

  • To take an active role in the factory, as directed, by supporting the production team in their handling and testing of finished product

  • To have an “eyes wide open” presence when in the factory in order to report any incidence which would endanger product safety or product quality or constitute a H&S issue. 

  • Monitoring CCP (metal detection) for compliance, and other quality control points

  • Checking cleanliness levels & performing audits

  • Cover may be required periodically depending on business needs 

  • Contribute to the business’ Sustainability strategy by delivering your Brighter Future Sustainability objectives

Essential Requirements:

  • To be degree qualified or equivalent in a food science-related subject or previous experience in a food manufacturing environment within a similar role

  • Good knowledge of GMP, practical application of HACCP, process and product standards

  • A strong work ethic with a can-do approach to work with a strong attention to detail

  • Confident communication

  • Good IT, planning, administrative and organisation skills

  • Desirable qualifications; Level 2 Food Hygiene Certification, Level 2 HACCP Certification, Trained auditing qualification

  • Possess a good understanding of quality, production, hygiene, safety, and other factory procedures

  • Work in a clean, neat, and effective manner. Adopt a structured approach to all tasks.

  • Communicate well

  • ·Have an acceptable standard of numeracy and literacy. Be able to work out averages, percentages, batch quantities, yields, bags produced, pallet configurations and pallet quantities. 

  • Have basic PC literacy. Be familiar with use of both “word” and “excel spreadsheet” documents.

  • Accept responsibility, demonstrate common sense, follow instructions and use initiative within existing guidelines. Be a reliable member of the team
