Job Description
Project Description:
The selected applicant will work for a minimum of 8 weeks alongside our machine learning, satellite communications, and programming teams to contributetowards the development of the company’s software products. The project aims to extend the capabilities of the Outage Prediction Algorithm (OPA) to considerthe service outage at satellite links operating at Ka- and Q/V-bands in case that a Sand or Dust storm occurs. In areas near desert, the sand and dust stormscause attenuation of the signal which at Ka-band could exceed several dBs and create service outages. In order that the next generation satellite communicationsystems deliver high data rates, the prediction of outages due to sand and dust storms can increase the service availability and data rates.Under the supervision of a Machine Learning Engineer and a Software Engineer, the chosen candidate will analyse aerosol particle data and sand and dust stormforecasts, alongside measurements from existing satellite links operating at Ka- and Q/V-bands. They will initially perform a statistical analysis to establish the relationship between the datasets and extract insights to describe the relationship between weather metrics and the availability of the satellite links. Based on theresults of their analysis, the candidate will integrate the sand and dust storm forecast warnings in the operational tool of Atheras Analytics. In addition, based on data quality, the candidate will have the opportunity to create a complete machine learning pipeline to predict link outages due to sand and dust storms.

Company Description:
Atheras Analytics is the global leader in predicting and managing the effects of atmospheric/weather impairments on Ka-band and Q/V-band satellite links.
The Company has developed a suite of SaaS-based software tools that enables satellite operators to optimise the design and operation of their next-generation Ka-band and Q/V-band satellite networks for maximum network availability. The core of these tools is an AI-based Outage Prediction Algorithm (OPA) which employs advanced machine learning techniques, including neural networks, to train the Outage Prediction Algorithm (OPA) for multiple different operational scenarios.
