ABOUT THE TEAM 

The role is part of the senior leadership of the Media Team, reporting into the Head of Media and sitting alongside two other sub-teams who are responsible for all News and PR output.   It has line management responsibility of three Partnership Communications Managers.

 The Media Team is part of the broader Communications Department, comprising of Ambassador Relations, Organic Social Media and Creative Content teams.  

 

ABOUT THE ROLE 

 The Senior Media & Communications Manager – Partnership Development is responsible for offering expert communications advice to UNICEF UK’s Partnership team and overseeing the day -to- day communication outputs for corporate partners.  

UNICEF UK has ambitious growth targets, and this post recognises the vital role Communications has in securing and maintaining multi-year, multi-market partnerships that raise millions of pounds for UNICEF’s work for children. 

We are looking for an exceptional individual with expertise in delivering earned media and generating award-winning communication to elevate our partnerships. 

Working closely alongside the Senior Media and Communications Manager –Business Development, this role jointly leads the Partnership Communications sub-team, providing ambitious leadership and ensuring we elevate all partnership opportunities.  

 

What we will expect you to achieve 

Strategic leadership of media and communications work for partners: 

·       To lead the strategic development and delivery of ambitious and impactful communications plans for UNICEF UK’s corporate partnerships.

·       To provide aspirational leadership to colleagues, encouraging a proactive, ambitious approach to earned, paid and owned media and up-skilling colleagues across the organization where appropriate.  

 

Reputation management for partnerships:   

·       To work alongside the Head of Media – and alongside the Senior Manager for Business Development – to develop a consistent risk aware approach to high value partnerships.  

·       To take responsibility for protecting and leveraging UNICEF UK’s reputation, leading, developing and implementing risk management media strategies as required.  

 

Line-management:  

·       To manage a team to deliver full service communications for UNICEF UK’s partnerships, including establishing strong working relationships with senior communications colleagues and PR agencies, working together to generate high value, ambitious and well messaged UK and global media coverage.  

 

Stakeholder Management:  

·       To offer mature, considered counsel to colleagues, ensuring consistent and expert counsel  amid a high-pressured environment.   

·       To role model a can-do, solutions focused approach, helping and encouraging colleagues to navigate complex organisational structures.   

·       To work closely with senior members of the Corporate Partnerships team and global colleagues to allocate resource and prioritise workload appropriately, establishing best practice ways of working between teams to ensure ease of decision making and clarity.   

·       Manage external stakeholders, providing specialist communications expertise and collaborating with counterparts at partner organisations.

 

 

General Responsibilities as a Senior Manager in the UUK Media Team: 

·       Offer leadership and expert advice to the wider multi-disciplined media team.

·       Deal with daily media enquiries (this will involve carrying an office mobile to deal with media calls outside office hours as part of the on-call rota), brief journalists and pitch stories.
