Job Description

Overall Objectives

  • Establish a vision and lead the work and activities of The Africa Centre (TAC), providing overall strategic management, taking ownership for the overall performance of the organisation and reporting to the Board of the charity.

  • Put in place sustainable fundraising structures & partnerships to ensure the centre’s long-term financial sustainability.

  • Lead and develop the existing team to achieve the organisation’s core aims, objectives and policies.

  • Grow the reach, influence, and reputation of TAC at every level: locally in Southwark and London, nationally across the UK, and internationally, including on the continent itself.

Key Tasks

  •  Build a network of partnerships to implement TAC’s strategic objectives across three principal strands:

    • Establishing a diverse fundraising portfolio.

    • Vision and leadership for the issues impacting the local African diaspora community in Southwark as well as across the UK.

    • Awareness of TAC across Africa, building towards collaborations with organisations of all sizes throughout the continent.

  • Ensure the proper management and administration of the organisation, including any statutory or regulatory requirements.

  • Promote TAC’s work externally, building diverse and creative partnerships of purpose.

  • Ensure an ongoing, well planned and diverse cultural programme attractive to visitors, members and sponsors that maintains the Africa Centre as thought leaders.
