Job Description

The Trust and Grant Manager works effectively with directors and leaders to achieve and exceed income targets. Through effective sector scanning, prospect research and qualification, compelling bid-writing and funder stewardship, you will help us successfully both large and small grants.  You will manage a cohesive team and work closely with colleagues in project delivery and finance to achieve your targets.

Key Responsibilities

·                    Lead, develop and implement an annual plan for generating income from funders including but not limited to grant giving bodies, lottery funds and charitable trusts.

·                    Interpret published funding criteria to decide the likely success of a bid.

·                    Coordinate all approaches to grants, charitable trusts and foundations, ensuring accuracy of data management.

·                    Lead the application process, working with colleagues to decide which funders to approach, when and for which project, ensuring sufficient time and resource is allocated.

·                    Achieve and exceed income generation budgets.

·                    Build and maintain excellent relationships with current funders and potential grant awarding bodies.

·                    Actively monitor and highlight available funding sources including charitable trusts, lottery grants and new finance initiatives

·                    Maintain first-rate knowledge of relevant funding sources, funder requirements, emerging trends and changes to the fundraising landscape.

·                    Provide relevant input to the Operational Leadership Group to ensure the organisation is continually aware of external funding opportunities.

Key Relationships (other than line manager)

·         Director Team – to ensure compelling, well-coordinated funding management aligned to strategy

·         Operational Leadership Group – to build good relationships and work collaboratively with Leadership Team members

·         Finance – to ensure sufficient funding is secured for project delivery and grant claim process is agreed.

·         External funders – to maintain effective and trusting relationships with major funders

·         Fundraising Team – to ensure collaboration and communication across all income streams

 

Person Specification

  • Proven experience of winning successful applications to grant giving bodies and charitable trusts (or equivalent)

  • Experience of budget setting, forecasting and delivering agreed targets

  • Proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships at senior levels.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple opportunities, appropriate prioritisation and meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrable experience of shaping bids to meet organisation goals and match funder needs.

  • Highly IT literate including project management, organisation and reporting tools.

  • A willing and eager team player with a flexible approach to work.

  • Ability and willingness to demonstrate the BBOWT values.

 

Measurements of Success

 • Effective input, advice and reporting to directors on current and future funding opportunities.

• Significant pipeline of bids in development or submitted.

• A good ‘win’ ratio for submitted bids.

• Achievement at or above annual income targets.

• Effective team management.
