MAIN PURPOSE
The Volunteer Coordinator will be involved in the recruitment and induction of new volunteers. They will ensure that they have a positive start to their volunteering journey. Acting as a point of contact for volunteers, the Volunteer Coordinator will line manage new volunteers when they first join the organisation. They will ensure that they follow an appropriate training pathway for their chosen role.
Please note that this is an office based role working five days per week Monday - Friday, 3.5 hours each day. There is no option to work from home with this role. Most work will be at our Birkenhead office with some travel to Wallasey as needed. Term time only would be considered.
Work closely with the Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator to ensure that the intake of volunteers across the year meets business need.
Deliver volunteer inductions
Ensure that new volunteers joining the organisation receive a suitable training pathway for their chosen role. Monitor their progress through regular reviews.
Line manage new volunteers when they first they join the organisation.
Be available on site as needed to help volunteers and assist with queries
Ensure volunteer records are accurate and up to date with regards to personal information and availability.
Produce reports as needed relating to volunteering
Attend relevant internal and external meetings as needed.
Prepare for and attend supervision sessions/team meetings/staff meetings as appropriate.
Ensure GDPR compliant training is completed on an annual basis.
Ensure all work conforms to Citizens Advice Wirral’s systems and procedures.
Adhere to the aims and policies of Citizens Advice.
Abide by health and safety guidelines and take steps to ensure your own safety and that of colleagues..
Recognise the importance of safeguarding procedures within the organisation ensuring that any concerns, disclosures or allegations of abuse are immediately and correctly reported.
To attend occasional out of hours events in conjunction with the work of Citizens Advice Wirral and participate in fund-raising activities.
Carry out any other tasks that may be within the scope of the post to ensure the effective delivery and development of the service.
VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR ROLE: Person Specification
Essential Criteria
1 Level 2 qualifications (GCSE or equivalent) in English and maths.
2 Excellent communication and social skills, with the ability to engage with a diverse range of people in a way that puts them at ease.
3 Demonstrable experience of using a range of IT systems and packages confidently and competently.
4 Skills and confidence to track progress, set targets and have difficult conversations when needed.
5 Ability to prepare and confidently deliver presentations to groups of people.
6 Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage own workload and plan time efficiently to ensure deadlines are met.
7 Ability and willingness to work as part of a team and have a flexible approach including the flexibility to work out of hours if needed.
8 Understanding of and commitment to the aims and principles of the Citizens Advice service and commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
Desirable
9 Experience of line management would be an advantage.
10 Experience of working with and/or managing volunteers.
