Job Description
Job Purpose
To support the Active Partnership National Organisation ensure it has effective internal and external communications. The role will include tasks traditionally associated with communications but also general tasks to provide the necessary support for the programmes and the business.
About you
You will have some experience of working in a communications role and of providing administrative support to individuals or a team of people
You will have good IT and digital skills, with experience of using content management systems for websites. Experience of posting on corporate social media accounts would also be beneficial
You will be an enthusiastic team player who is willing to support several members of the team with general business and administrative tasks, as well as specific communication tasks
You will have experience of working on multiple projects simultaneously and will need to have excellent time management skills, ensuring all programmes receive support when required
Roles and responsibilities
Working closely with the Active Partnership team to support the delivery of and ongoing development of the strategic communications plan, including internal and external communications.
Supporting the development and launch of a new website and hub (an intranet site used by the Active Partnerships network and its partners).
Helping to update, create and upload content for the Active Partnerships website and hub.
Monitoring, creating content and posting on the Active Partnerships social media accounts .
Supporting and contributing to internal network wide and external communications activity. This might include writing press releases, news stories, briefings and blogs.
Updating Smartsheets, including an internal communications grid which tracks activity for communications support.
Liaising with communication colleagues across the network, verbally or via the Active Partnerships hub.
Updating and creating presentation packs, slide packs and other content as required.
Providing general administration support for the main programmes that the Active Partnerships National Organisation operates or works in partnership on. This might include helping to organise meetings, events or conferences.
Projects that you may provide specific support on could include but are not limited to:
the establishing of multi-sport facilities
the opening schools facilities programme
supporting the establishment of a partnership wide network of sport welfare officers
Working with the Evaluation and Learning Lead, to provide evidence of the successful delivery of projects and programmes.
As this is a new role, the specific tasks are expected to evolve over the next few months.
Skills
Communications skills, including strong writing skills for news stories, press releases, newsletters and blogs. Experience of media liaison is also desirable.
Ability to build relationships as you will be working with multiple team members, colleagues from across the Active Partnerships network and with representatives from many of our partners, who we also work alongside on several programmes.
You’ll need to be good at multi-tasking as you’ll be supporting multiple programmes at the same time.
Because you’ll be working on several different projects, you will need strong time management skills, so that all required projects receive your support.
Planning skills will be required to assist with the communications activity and required to support the projects and programmes that you will be working on.
IT and digital skills are important for this role. Experience of using microsoft programmes, including PowerPoint and SharePoint as well as Smartsheet is desirable, as is using a content management system for website content and experience of posting on corporate social media accounts.
