About the Role

Blackbird is looking to hire an Investor Relations Analyst to supercharge engagement with our investors, building their trust and confidence in Blackbird as stewards of their capital. You will be a key part of delivering a world-class experience for investors through your attention to detail and delivering delightful interactions.

Here is what success might include in your first 12 months:

  • Data & reporting. This is the foundation of investor relations. You will ensure our key investor materials are insightful, engaging and timely. This includes investment memos, quarterly reporting, pitchdecks, due diligence documents and ad-hoc requests.

  • Build scalable workflows. Create scalable systems and repeatable workflows to support our investors through a full lifecycle and over multiple fund vintages. Beginning with a prospective investor’s first interaction with Blackbird, supporting their due diligence, onboarding them as investors and then managing their relationship over many years.

  • Improve the investor experience. End-to-end mapping of our investors’ experience and bring your design thinking to level-up their customer journey.

  • Collaborate internally. Work closely with Blackbird’s operations, investments and founder success teams to ensure timely & accurate information flows & minimise unnecessary tasks.

  • Tracking Blackbird’s success. Establish and manage ongoing benchmarking of Blackbird’s investment performance to peers, monitoring the quality of our LP relationships, tracking our progress to fundraising objectives and other IR projects.

You’ll be reporting to the Head of Investor Relations and have access to experts within Blackbird but with scope to take ownership of key documents and processes.

Position Requirements

Your background is less important than the key skills, which include:

  • Attention to detail. Trust is earned in drops and can be lost in buckets. You should demonstrate a forensic approach to creating investor materials and experiences.

  • Customer experience. Deep wells of empathy for our investors. An ability to assess a customer journey, identify and solve pain points.

  • Hospitality mindset. We infuse investor relations with ‘Enlightened Hospitality’, which means we all muck in together and have a collective obsession for customer service to our founders and investors. You should too.

  • Project management. Every day brings fresh challenges (a.k.a distractions)! You will need an ability to achieve outcomes whilst managing numerous, competing requests across a breadth of areas and a range of investors.

  • Exceptional communication skills. An ability to convert complexity into beautiful, insightful content.

  • Problem solving and continuous improvement. We’re looking for someone who is excited by continuous improvement. This may include processes, investor materials, experiences.

You should have a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent - we will consider a wide variety of specialisations. Prior experience in investment management is not critical but you should demonstrate a curiosity about venture capital and our investors.

This role is full-time, based in Surry Hills (Sydney, NSW) or Cremorne (Melbourne, VIC) with the flexibility to work from home.

About Blackbird

Blackbird is Australia's biggest venture capital fund whose mission is to supercharge Australia and New Zealand’s most ambitious founders. We do this by raising venture capital funds, investing in the most promising founders and helping them succeed. We have a portfolio valued at over $7B, including some of the most successful Australian and Kiwi startups such as Canva, SafetyCulture, Halter, VeVe and Culture Amp.

We are inspired by investment firms such as Berkshire Hathaway and Bridgewater Associates. Like the companies we back, we want to build a business that lasts for decades and produces excellent returns for our investors. Most of all, we want to support our region’s most talented founders to build category-defining technology companies.

We’ve written a lot about what we love at Blackbird, so check out our blog if you want some more information about us. In particular, you should read about our mission and values, our Blackbird’s Operating Principles (BOPs) and what we look for in founders.
