Job Description

Oak National is seeking to appoint qualified and experienced secondary Music teachers on a freelance basis, to create high-quality lessons for our Oak National Academy Music Curriculum. You will be supporting the development of free, optional, high-quality full curriculum packages for secondary music and will have the opportunity to make a positive impact nationally on music curriculum delivery. 

Successful candidates must have QTS and 3+ years experience teaching across KS3 and 4. You should have a strong understanding of evidence-based practice in music education and the principles of cognitive science and lesson design. You will need to be available to work on this project between 1st September 2024 and the end of March 2025 (with an option to extend until July 2025).

Hours: 

Hours are flexible. (A minimum of 8 days a month.)

Pay and contract: 

Candidates will be appointed on a self-employed/freelance contract basis with an initial 7-month contract from 1 September to the end of March 31st 2025.

Key responsibilities:

  • To plan, design and create high-quality, engaging lessons, comprising slide decks, worksheets, quizzes and supporting lesson information.

  • To produce lesson video recordings to support remote learning 

    • These resources must: Align with Oak’s quality guidance; Demonstrate excellent subject knowledge, pedagogical understanding and lesson design

      You must:

  • Have or gain an in-depth knowledge of the four GCSE exam board requirements

  • Confidence in the use of digital tools to record lessons, create modelled videos and other lesson resources

  • Be able to develop and adapt lesson resources in response to feedback and work in collaboration with Oak’s Curriculum Delivery Team 

  • Meet production deadlines and work at pace
