Co-op Student, Financial Reporting 

8 or 12 Month Term Starting January 2024

Opportunity details are as follows: 

Term length: 8 or 12 months 

Term start:  January 2024 

Job location:  Calgary, Alberta 

Shift schedule:  5 days/week (Monday – Friday), 8 hours/day 

Hybrid Option: Yes 

Safety sensitive position:  No 

 

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial accounting journal entries. 

  • Assist with public filings including financial statements and management’s discussion and analysis. 

  • Monthly account balance reconciliations. 

  • Analysis of financial information. 

  • Peer benchmarking of external reporting-related disclosure. 

  • Assistance with user acceptance testing of financial reporting system changes. 

  • Preparation of Statistics Canada surveys for financial information. 

  • Implementation of process improvements. 

  • Support other projects and initiatives as required. 

 

What You Bring To The Role: 

  • Currently enrolled and on-track to graduate in the next two years with a Business Administration/Accounting or related bachelor’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution. 

  • Successful completion of an introductory financial accounting course. 

  • Capacity to problem solve, manage time, and communicate effectively. 

  • Proficient (intermediate to advanced skills) with operating Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). 

  • Familiarity with data and analytics tools such as Power Query or Power BI is a definite asset. 

  • A strong work ethic and good interpersonal skills. 

  • An affinity for the details. 

  • Curiosity and desire to learn new things. 

  • An interest in the energy sector and sustainability.
