Hours: 37.5 - We are flexible as to how these are worked across a 4-5 day week. Culture is important to us and nothing beats face-time with our colleagues, so we’re actively promoting different work patterns that work for our teams both personally and professionally.

Location: Glasgow. This role will be supporting the talent acquisition plans across Careys Scotland, North England and Milton Keynes regions. Our UK offices are based in Glasgow and Wembley and we have a 2-3 day a week in the office hybrid approach.

The Carey Group People Team is made up of our Talent Acquisition, HR, Learning & Development, Internal Communications and Facilities teams. The Talent Acquisition Team partners with our business leaders to shape and implement short, mid-term and future-focused talent acquisition plans that meet the vision and strategic priorities of the business. Our People Team help to attract the very best, most diverse and most talented people to our organisation, support our leaders to shape and implement their people plans, and help to raise the capability across the Group by ensuring the continual development of a high-performance culture.

The People Team are about to embark on a significant period of digital transition and it’s therefore important that our team members embrace working within an evolving people infrastructure and emerging processes and systems.

Role Purpose

As Talent Acquisition Business Partner, you will play an integral role within the Talent Acquisition and wider People Team function. You will help us to identify, attract and hire top talent to Carey Group, through a blended model of supply chain partnering and direct-delivery that places exceptional candidate experience at the forefront. You'll be supporting stakeholders across a dedicated region covering Scotland, North of England and the Midlands to shape and deliver impactful talent acquisition plans that maximise early talent pathway opportunities, promote and enable the progression and internal mobility of our people, increase the diversity across our teams and raise capability across every area of the Carey Group.

With some exciting growth plans and projects currently underway, it’s important you have experience in a similar sized or scaling business and understand the challenges of change, growth, and operational complexities. You will need to apply your expertise in talent acquisition practices to a fast paced, multigenerational workforce. A love of solving problems and having the confidence to challenge existing norms and practices alongside an 'enabling', resilient and innovative business partnering approach will be key to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

·       Act as a key change agent and advocate in the embedding of an evolving hiring model across the Carey Group

·       Oversee strategic recruitment needs for a designated region, including optimising attraction and employer value proposition, focusing on developing effective supply chain agency partner sourcing and effective talent pipelines

·       Partner with wider People Team Partners (HR Business Partners, Talent & Apprenticeship Partner and L&D Business Partners) to develop talent acquisition solutions that address current and future skills gaps and promote the internal mobility of our people, including talent and skills mapping, succession planning and retention

·       Work closely with the Head of Talent Acquisition and Talent & Apprenticeship Partner to evolve and implement early talent and social value initiatives and activities for the region that contribute to our mission of being the most socially responsible company that people are proud to work for

·       Contribute to the Great Place to Work strategic goal, working with functional leads to develop roles and responsibilities for each discipline

·       Conduct regular workshops with business leaders to upskill, enable and raise capabilities

·       Drive hiring manager engagement with best hiring practice, ensuring quality standards are met

·       Source, develops and maintains strong relationships with supply chain agency partners of choice for the region, providing frequent feedback to continually improve quality service delivery and ensure exemplary company representation

·       Utilise hiring tools, resources and systems to generate data that provides insights into hiring trends across the Carey Group and focus on areas of opportunity and improvement

·       Attend monthly meetings with Talent & Apprenticeships Partner to review project scope of works, employment & skills plans and social value targets

·       Support the Carey Group D+I strategy, social value and employer brand commitments through the attendance of curriculums support and careers events, including skills workshops for local employment groups

·       Attract talent through a range of channels including advertising in specific boroughs, social media channels and networking groups

Share market expertise and insight, advising, coaching and effectively influencing stakeholders on best practice attraction and selection methods

Person Specification – Skills, Experience and Attributes

Our Talent Acquisition Partners role requires a highly collaborative, curious and influential talent acquisition leader and subject matter expert who strongly demonstrates an ‘enabling’, rather than ‘doing for’, approach to partnering and has a strong sense of and enjoys being part of a wider ‘team’. Previous accountability for leading the development of regional talent acquisition plans within a complex/matrix organisation is essential, as well as robust experience across a range of talent activities including managing the end-to-end process for volume hires (including early talent and apprenticeships), succession planning, talent and skills mapping. The role requires core motivational drivers, values and behaviours that are aligned with the needs of our business; our organisational structures are continually changing and evolving, and it’s therefore critical that the Talent Acquisition Partner embraces the need to continually adapt and maximise on the opportunities presented by organisational change.

·       Experienced in-house recruitment/talent acquisition partner/manager who has proven success of leading regional talent acquisition plans within a complex/matrix organisation (circa 1500 – 5000)

·       Previous experience in working within a similar industry (engineering/aviation/manufacturing/long-term contracting) preferred

·       Experience of strategic talent acquisition from early talent through to experienced hires, with a focus on internal talent and mobility and early talent and apprenticeship programmes

·       Understanding of and interest in people and organisational behaviours and the factors that create high-performing teams 

·       Knowledge and experience of using a range of Talent Acquisition Systems and processes

·       Vision and strategic thinking - paints a compelling picture of the future that energises and mobilises candidates, stakeholders and external agency partners behind a shared purpose

·       Ability to plan outcomes for success far in advance, prioritising and managing workload, and the workload of stakeholder groups, effectively

·       Confident and approachable ‘people person’ who sees themselves as being an integral part of a wider team
